Jaime Ventura

Appearance

Despite her order of second oldest among her siblings, Jaime stands at a somewhat underwhelming five foot three, her frame rather fair and lean. She hardly wears her hair outside of a messy half-bun or haphazardly put together ponytail, yet she's no stranger to a more casual, tomboy-ish style of a pixie cut, particularly around the hotter months of the year. Most of the time, she can be found with bandages on her cheek or fingers, sometimes on her knees or arms—the result of not quite being careful with where she's going, or with what she's doing.

Much of Jaime's get-ups are noticeably worn by time and wear, if not already loose-fitted or the colors greyed out. When asked, she claims there's a charm to it, and appropriately manages to make them work well enough to hide the fact that their family is more on the lesser-off side.

Personality

Accurately labelled as energetic and lighthearted, Jaime is easily considered to be a rather bouncy fellow that's light and humorous on her feet. She doesn't take to the negatives and always looks to solutions, doing what she can to lend a hand wherever possible and wherever needed. The smiles of her family and that of others, too, are what she considers to be one of her purposes in life, and doles out jokes that sometimes border on flirts if it can fluster or cheer up the other party involved.

Jaime doesn't sweat the details, throwing her heart into tasks she's given. Earnest and true as she is, Jaime's not immune to awkward stumbles or slip-ups, growing embarrassed when talking fondly about her relatives back home, or when her English isn't the most refined it can be. Of course, rainy days come along, too, something she handles with the best smile she can put up—even if it doesn't quite reach her eyes at times. In some ways, she's grown good at acting, practically mastering the art of taking on the fictional roles within her younger siblings' story books, be it the hero, the antagonist, or the hero's talking donkey, and to some extent, even enjoying the part of portraying someone else.

Jaime's not the most studious of the bunch, but she's known for her dedication to a cause, often leading some to call her stubborn when she refuses to call it quits. This has led to some squabbles when she refuses gifts for herself, opting instead to give them to her sister or brothers, content with what she has—believing that others are more deserving of such luxuries, rather than herself.

As earthly and grounded she might be, Jaime has her own dreamy little streak, often wondering if there's more beyond the little home she'd come to know as Bergamo. She's fond of stargazing, imagining vivid scenes in the night sky, and treasures moments where she's closest to nature, delighting in the sheer difference of the autonomous world from that of the loud and ever-shifting reality of the people.

History

Born as the second oldest in her family of four siblings including herself, Jaime Ventura hails from the province of Bergamo in Italy, a place that lies a little more on the traditional side of things. Alongside her eldest brother, she was tasked with helping out with much of the household work, considering their father worked out in the central city, as well as caring and watching out for the two younger kids in the family. Despite being confined a lot of the time to the Ventura home, Jaime's escapades with her close group of friends and, on other days, with her siblings, led to the occasional thwack on the head with the daily newspaper for causing trouble to the neighbors. That never quite stopped her from having fun when she could, though.

Of course, as goes the progression of maturity, most of that energy has simmered down to more controllable levels, more so directed towards teases and jokes. Even so, Jaime's never one to back out on the offer of walking along the nearest riverbank for a midnight stroll—after all, it's nice to have a breath of fresh air, for a change.
