The Frontier

The Frontier is a group of humans and a few aliens who live on the fringe territories of human-controlled space in the Andromeda Galaxy. Namely, humans who for one reason or another, have split away from the many warring human factions, and aliens who wish to escape their own conclaves, regimes, and wars. The primary occupation within the Frontier is agricultural duties, factory work, mining, and being a member of the defense force. Due to being on the fringe, and otherwise having few allies they are under constant threat, from other humans and aliens alike. The defenses that guard the Frontier Sector are few and far between, often resulting in the Frontier using their resources to hire out Mercenary groups to help protect against raiding and other threats they may face.

The Frontier consists of three inhabited planets, New Haven, Valoria, and Ferrum. New Haven and Valoria are the primary agricultural and population centers within the Frontier, and Ferrum is the primary mining and factory world within the sector. Ferrum is the third planet to the sun, and separated from the other two planets by two sets of Asteroid Rings. Valoria is seventh from the sun, while New Haven is ninth from the sun. The other planets within the solar system have been deemed either impractical to support life, or simply not worth the effort. However, the fifth planet from the sun, dubbed 'Anchorage' has been a proposed future sight for a dedicated shipyard world due to its closeness with Ferrum and the two asteroid belts sandwiching it providing further mining opportunities. Its remote location and lack of natural life mean it is also a place where mass-nuclear and anti-matter production could be conducted without environmental activist pressure.

There is also, at the very edge of the solar system are four mass trade hubs established called 'Wave Breaker Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Omega.'. They all got this name because they are also military installations, they project-intensive gravity and electromagnetic fields that prevent ships from entering the rest of the solar system except through very specific points. These points are heavily patrolled, and launching a massive invasion without first knocking out these installations would be insanely costly and result in ships flying through choke points. However, smaller ships, especially those possessing stealth technology can more easily slip right by these points undetected, hence the enhanced security at these points.

The primary trade exports of this sector are food, though, only land-live stock and plants, the fishing industry on these planets is not great enough to allow for exportation. On the rarer but still exported side is metal, ship components (typically second-hand, potentially salvaged from pirate ships that were destroyed). While the sector is self-sustaining on a civilian level, their primary demand is typically on the military side of things. Weapons, ammo, vehicles, star ships, etc.
