    Tess Tripletrek is a gnomish woman approaching her twilight years. She is short even for her diminutive species, with the classic oversized nose and pointed ears, which have begun to droop at the tips. Her dark face is creased with age lines, though her eyes still glitter with fire and cunning. She has coily hair usually held back from her face in a gathered puff, with a pinkish dye wash that turns grey and silver to soft mauve. Her left hand has been replaced with a prosthetic.

    In her youth, Tess was an explorer and adventurer of modest fame. She braved dense wealds, ancient ruins, and dripping dungeons in search of treasures, but it was the thrill of the unknown which truly drove her. She is a skilled cartographer, artist, and calligrapher, and many of her maps still see wide use today.

    As she aged, Tess became less able to keep up with younger explorers. Though she has enough money to live comfortably, she resents that she no longer had the energy of youth. She remains relevant by helping younger explorers follow in her footsteps as guildmistress of the Adventurers' Guild.
