Thalandyr Carrard

Thalandyr Carrard is a truly huge man who stands well over 6 feet tall with massive, bulging muscles that are so defined they resemble sculpted marble, he has brown, kind eyes and shoulder length brown hair that frames a strong, pointed and handsome face. In him, the blood of Númenor is clearly shown, for like all the true sons of Dol Amroth, Thalandyr can trace his legacy back to the ancient lords of that sunken land. Even in his youth, his broad chest and well developed muscles were covered in a number of deep scars earned throughout his life as a warrior. Many of these were earned during his first few months as a Swan Knight, when he rode out with his brothers to combat a Haradrim raid. The battle went well, and it was during his duel with the Serpent Lord that led the raid that Thalandyr earned his first scars. This battle also earned him a great deal of fame, for many far more experienced Swan Knights had fallen in battle against that terror from Harad.

All of the scars he earned in his life, however, pale in comparison to the damage done to his body by Scala, the Dragon of Frost. After the dragon's fire consumed his body, Thalandyr was rescued from death by the Elves he was fighting alongside, but even the healing arts of their kind could not undo all the damage done to the young knight. Thalandyr survived thanks to their aid, but he carries the marks of his battle with the Snow Queen to this day. The entire right side of his body, his right leg, right arm, most of his torso and a large part of his neck and jaw, were ruined by the flames, reduced to nothing more than burnt flesh and scar tissue. He now resembles some sort of monster spawned from the darkest pits of Mordor, rather than a proud child of Dol Amroth. His handsome features are gone, and his once glorious body that stood as a testament to the power of Númenórean blood has been ravaged by heat and fire.

Because of this, Thalandyr rarely removes his armour these days, doing so only to bathe and tend to wounds, and he only ever does so when not in the company of others so that his ravaged body does not frighten or upset them. He usually wears the same type of armour worn by all Swan Knights. He is clad, head to toe, in gleaming silver plate forged by the greatest smiths in all of Gondor, beneath which he wears a coat of chainmail. A cloak, as blue as the waves of the sea, flows down his back to just above his knees, and upon it is the symbol of Dol Amroth, the White Swan in flight. Emblazoned in gold on the chest of his armour and the front of his shield is the heraldry of the Carrard house, a massive bear rearing up to roar at the moon. On his head he wears the traditional helmet of a Swan Knight, it covers his entire head and most of his face, leaving only his eyes visible, and sweeping out from either side is a pair of wings like those of a swan that sweep backwards. At his hip, Thalandyr carries a longsword that is both larger and heavier than those used by normal humans, his Númenórean heritage making it easy for him to carry such a blade, and on his other arm is strapped a large, heavy shield.
