Valore Bekke
Valore Bekke is a grizzled old ex-assassin and werewolf who runs the Hair of the Dog Pub in Harbor. He specializes in potions and poisons, and though he's 'retired' now, he's not above using his skills to make a point from time to time.
Mostly friendly, he looks out for his community, and sells specialized potions for high prices in order to keep the food prices at his pub low.
He really loves to cook, and a sure way to get a discount out of him is to let him ramble on about his recipes for a bit-- which, admittedly, are quite delicious.
Lady Gray
Miss Gray is aptly named, and was in fact named for the steel gray color of her feathers. Like her granddaughter, she's a sunbird.
Lady Gray is a force to be reckoned with to be sure. She's prim and matronly, and though her sharp vision may come as no surprise considering her raptorial nature, don't let the lack of visible ears fool you-- she hears everything. Though stern and often taciturn, Lady Gray is soft hearted beneath it all, and rarely turns away anyone in need. She's not prone to flinching at the different, and rather vocally considers any form of bigotry 'weak brained nonsense'.
Officially, the matron of Sanctuary's lauded Sparrow & Hare has retired to heading the kitchens. Unofficially you'll still find her claws and beak in just about everyone's business. But Lady Gray is mostly a presence welcomed fondly in the inn, and often does more good than she does harm. She's also very fond of the color blue, and likes to wear blue glass beads and ribbons woven into her feathers. If you bring her some, she may slip you a treat or two in exchange.
Sparrow
Known as Treebea in her youth, Sparrow has since transitioned into her adult name along with a change of gender that suited her better. She eventually lost her downy hatchling fluff, a relief for her, and a bittersweet change for her grandmother, and grew into a set of sleek brown feathers.
Sparrow never did gain the metallic sheen that most of her species boasts, but she seems content with her 'sparrow brown', and likes to adorn them with the same blues that Lady Gray does.
Sparrow now owns the tavern and inn along with her husband Jack. She's a far friendlier force when measured against her stoic grandmother, but don't mistake her silver tongue and bubbly personality for weakness-- she can be just as fierce.
Jack
On the surface, Jack is human. He's a shortish man in his mid-twenties with a jolt of dun brown hair and warm, amber eyes. He's always ready with a dirty joke or a laugh, and he plays the flute like something out of an old Greek folktale.
Which may be, perhaps, where he belongs. Or at least, someone's folktale. When he's not a man, he's a sleek gray-brown hare, about the size of a dog and no less mischievous for his diminished size. He may have been cursed, or born with shapeshifting powers, or perhaps he's a nature spirit-- whatever the case, he's closed lipped about it, and likely only he and his close family know.
He also seems to find the fact that he married a bipedal bird of prey endlessly funny, and he can often be found entertaining the patrons of the Sparrow & Hare Inn with a questionable song or two about just that.
