Nadia Cleming

Nadia was born and raised in a rather small town that consisted of around 200 people. Everyone knew everyone, and reputations were everything. Farming was a popular occupation in the town, and Nadia's family fell into this group. She helped care for the horses and cows in the early hours of the morning before school started.

Due to her soft spoken nature, Nadia experienced bullying all throughout school, with it becoming worse as time went on. As a junior in high school, Nadia made the mistake of retaliating to the bullying. She'd grown tired of it and simply told the girl to stop. Instead of the girl stopping, though, she spread a nasty rumor that tarnished Nadia's reputation even though she honestly was a good girl who hadn't done anything she wasn't supposed to. The rumor was believed because her mother had earned that same reputation, and instead of standing up for her daughter, she'd just let the situation be. It seemed like confirmation to the town.

Because of this, Nadia left home very soon after graduation. She couldn't bring herself to move to a large city, though. She didn't have enough money, for starters, but it just seemed too.. impersonal. Instead, she moved to another small town, but it wasn't nearly as small. There were familiar faces, but also new ones everyday. Settling in, Nadia got a small apartment and currently works for a mom and pop bookshop.

Trapped in a Book: After purchasing a book from a rival book store, Nadia soon finds herself drawn into the fantasy realm- literally!
Another idea along those lines is that instead of her being drawn into a book, your character is pulled out of the book. It could be comedic as the character tries to settle into the new world, or this could lead to catastrophe and danger.

Stuck in a Simulation: Life is lived as normal, but not everything is quite as it seems. Nadia is trapped in a simulated world, her body appearing asleep in the real world. Her mind is being stimulated by a computer, the operators of which are unknown at the moment. They control the setting, and whenever there is a glitch, she is rebooted to remember a time before. Your character is also stuck in the same simulation, however, upon rebooting, your character doesn't forget his/ her past life (a past setting/ being abducted to do this experiment). He/ She can sense that there's another human trapped inside the world and goes to Nadia to help awaken her. They soon find each themselves in a world that alters itself trying to destroy them as a way to rid the 'viruses.' Should they get caught, their existences would be snuffed out, their memories becoming permanently deleted.

The background is the same, but instead of leaving the small town, Nadia gets into a car accident that leaves her comatose on her 18th birthday. Her family is unable to pay for the hospital bills and contemplate pulling the plug. Right as they're having to make this decision, a man from an experimental agency gave them another option: sign Nadia's care over to them, and her family would never want for money again. They follow through with this, and Nadia gets transferred to the experimental facility where the rp idea takes place.
