• Description

  Golden skin highlights the blend of two different cultures, the Vanns and the Gazilians. The Vanns landed in Africa in 1398. By the mid 1420s, children of mixed marriages started to seek out their second home. A land far away, with cold wind and frozen rivers. They journey to the new continent as homesteaders, pioneers and frontiersmen and women.
  
  Runolf Vang is the son of a prominent Vannish explorer. He used his connections to get a crew together. Ship life was something Runolf was no stranger to, learning a great deal from his father. His dad was one of the commanding sailors, leading the entire Scandinavian expedition into Gazilian Africa.
  
  His mother was the daughter of one of the local region's top traders and was a successful merchant in her own right. Runolf grew up around the African trading port, learning to fish and escorting caravans as he got older. He sailed on his first voyage at age 17, taking part in a regional military exercise.
  
  Now Runolf captained a ship in the family trading company. He enjoys spending time in the Mainland North when he can and also enjoys the Sun of his Equatorial homeland. Sailing is still quite dangerous, especially when storms or monsters of the depths are concerned.
  
  His own father was lost at sea just a few years ago. The explorer had reached old age, but would not leave the sea. He went down with his ship, a fate he often predicted for himself.
  
  A group of his father's advisors are cautious of the young Vang, believing he could skip them in line despite their lifelong efforts. Runolf inherited his father's role as owner, with their fears coming to fruition. In this business of exploration and trading, executives were quite fickle to deal with. Several political dynamics were also at play.
  
  This affected everything from where the company would send ships, to prices paid for resources, as well as those set for consumers. The whole situation bugged Runolf, who felt stuffed into boardrooms. He was meant to be outdoors, having lived the life of a frontiersman up to this point.
  
  Runolf appointed himself commander of a ship, cherry picked a crew and decided to worry about his own voyages. The Board could deal with the daily hassle of running the company. Runolf would profit and explore on his own.
  
  He was on a hunt for treasure and exotic adventures. His co-workers know him for being loud, bold and taking over a room with his prodding sense of humor. He's the type that has laughed consistently in the face of dangerous situations, especially at sea. He's still fairly young and green as far as a ship commander. Runolf has a boldness that shows in everything from his tactics to his signature laugh.
