    Lucha-viking-ninja? Kaoru is of mixed race, best understood as Japanese, Scandinavian, and Mexican descent (or their fantasy equivalent). In fantasy settings, he may also have a mixed bloodline from a non-human race.

    His hair is dark, long, and braided, shaved on the sides. He has tan skin tone. His chest is broad, but relatively lean and agile. His clothing is understated but finely made, bearing the symbol of who he represents. In combat, he wears a thin, dark leather armor that allows for quite a bit of movement. When it's cold, he also wears a long leather and fur cape, with a chain across his neck.

    His parents' union was that of a political alliance, but they did love one another very much. Kaoru was born and raised to be a bridge between peoples. He was trained as a diplomat, but also an agent to gather information of interest, and the occasional necessary assassination. He is skilled with courtly graces and has strong communication and diplomacy. He embeds himself within a community quite effortlessly, aligning himself with prominent locals to gain trust and information. Generally to their benefit.

    Much of his work requires subtlety, but Kaoru is not a subtle person when he plays his role in the public eye. And besides his mask that hides his identity, his combat skills are quite distinct. As a result, he is sent around to many different locations when his methods start becoming recognizable by locals. What he craves is community, and companionship. His life can be isolating. No one really knows him fully, and his life depends on it.
