    It's interesting that people think you can't chat if you don't speak. They assume that the voice is sacred -- a sort of firm finality of communication. It is, to them, the be all and end all of what is and is not said. For, of course, if you're not saying it out loud, surely you aren't saying anything at all!
    
    They're wrong, of course; They're just smoothly looking past their own body language; Their smiles and slouches and tears and winces; It's all a big parade of lovely language, if you ask me. It's a whole lot of saying being said, if somewhat silently. The mute and the deaf and the blind are put aside as lessers, sometimes as mines to be trod around with great care. Funny, then, how those of us victim to such conditions are often the most in-depth and well-informed.
    
    Oh the conversations I've heard -- The conversations I've had. It is as though they speak and expect me not to understand. How willingly they open to me, gliding on the assumption that their secrets are safe in my hands, and that my lips will never betray. They're right, I suppose, about my lips. I prefer to gossip with my hands anyway..
