Difficulty Modes

Posted by Miss November 1st 2018, 11:09pm
Hello everyone! Today, I had an excellent idea of implementing a difficulty system. My group has had many adventurers, both young and older and not everyone wants to roll dice with strict mechanics. I understand this. So I would like to offer my players the choice to select what kind of adventure they would like to have. Below, you will find the different choices. These are not set in stone and are subject to change, and are open to suggestions for change.

Easy Mode.

This mode is automatically set to players without character sheets/stats for trainers/Pokemon. Players can complete character sheets for their trainers and Pokemon and choose a different difficulty once they have done so.

What you can do in Easy Mode:

Explore the world.
Chat with others
Battle other trainers (You will always win vs. an NPC)
Capture Pokemon (You will always capture the Pokemon)
Participate in plots
Earn Gym badges

What you can't do in Easy Mode:

Become the Grand Champion (Elite Four or Poke Contests)
Become a Gym Leader
Become an Elite Four
Capture Legendary Pokemon
Capture a Pokemon that a Trainer on a higher difficulty is fighting
Win a Pokebattle vs. a Trainer on a higher difficulty
Other things I may think about later

Normal Mode.

2 Starting Pokemon at level 10, 5000 yen start, free Pokedex...

This mode is the standard of play. Nothing changes from the character creation process.

What you can do in Normal Mode:

Everything

What you can't do in Normal Mode:

Nothing

Hard Mode.

This is a challenging mode chosen at the beginning of the game. This start doesn't include a Pokedex, 2500 yen, one level 5 Pokemon, and features more difficult encounters from Normal Mode.

What you can do in Hard Mode:

Everything

What you can't do in Hard Mode:

Nothing
