Pagan fetishes have begun marking the wilder areas around the Keep. Some travelers have reported drumming in the night as well as being stalked by a shadow which carries the scent of blood (iron). Rumors have it that a godless heathen has moved into the Wood and taken up as the resident Woodsman. The darkness of his skin is said to be a mark of the God's contempt with his wild ways, or so the man had heard muttered by servants and townsfolk.
The multi-faceted community has grown slightly with the addition of a full-time Woodsman, Mortimer Keelstroke. He resides within the woods abutting the river outside of the Keep. With the day-to-day rituals of felling trees and culling back the undergrowth and hazardous plants, the woods alongside the flowing waters have taken on a less wild feel. The scent of smoke and noise of humanity having driven away would-be predators save the ones gone mad with disease or starvation, which have been being dealt with accordingly as encountered.

Totems:
Word passed to a guardsman at the gate has been that a squirrel's skull with three dangling white feathers indicates that the predators in the area have been relocated through some means, making a section of the Wood passable for all.
A rabbit's skull with red leather strips and two black feathers indicates areas where those unskilled in the martial arts or woodcraft should avoid. Currently these only begin to appear two miles into the woods and will slowly creep further in as the lay-of-the-land becomes more natural to the outsider (Mortimer).

Goods:
As well as providing lumber to the Keep (as much as a sole man may), hides, game and foraged goods have begun to trickle into the community. As of yet there have been no requests for specific goods, thus everything has proceeded to the Keep's larders and professionals. Word has spread that the Woodsman is willing to search for items if given reasoning with reward. Word left with the guards or cooks will make it to his ears eventually, as his interactions have been limited to those groups thus far.

(More to come!)
