Rules of the Dream

  • Please Read Carefully

    VnquEKo.jpg

Please make sure you accept and agree to the dreams rules before you step into the IC area. They are the dreams terms and conditions.

If you have any further questions to ask, about anything at all, do not hesitate to message staff. We know rules can be tedious to read and a little overbearing, we will be happy to summarise and break things down for you if you are unsure.

Once you step into IC you immediately consent and abide to all rules listed here. Failure to do so may have a staff member whisper you. If you are not following the dream rules then you will be pulled back to OOC.

While using the forums, these rules still apply.
  • Main Guidelines

    Main Guidelines

    1. First and foremost, please accept Furcadia's user agreement rules before anything else.

    2. Outlands is a 'Semi Consent' dream. This means that when you enter the dream, your character too must be Semi Consent. Semi Consent means that while both parties must agree to the more major things such as pride challenges, mating and fighting; your character is not exempt from IC consequences that they cause.

    3. Under no circumstances, and as in the user agreement, is anybody to rp anything sexually explicit where others may come by to watch. Outlands is a T+ standard dream. Please use dens or secluded spots if you wish to do this nature of RP.

    4. As per the Furcadia TOS and a general consensus across the majority of dreams on Furcadia, there is a zero tolerance of rape rp.

    5. Have good consideration for your fellow patrons. Not everybody will wish to fight your character, nor risk having theirs die. Allow the rp to flow comfortably where everyone is on the same page and be immersed. If in character tensions rise see where it will take you. As an example, you can consent to a character fight while both agreeing that neither character will kill the other.

    6. Please do not interbreed your characters. While this might be something realistic in the wild, it should not happen here.

    7. Under no circumstances should you bring any real life topics to the dream such as politics, gender, race or religion. Racism and use of racist terms will result in a swift ban. Prides with themes that cover ancient religions and beliefs such as Egypt and Rome are perfectly fine so long as they are not intentionally causing offence. Common sense is enough.

    8. Please also bare in mind that Outlands is a T+ dream, while we cannot police all forms of swearing and we can be adults about a strong majority of it, please do have some consideration for the people around you. For this reason we have made a ban in our DS for some of our stronger curse words such as the C word and for the rule above, the N word.

    9. You may have as many characters as you wish in the dream however for fairness to every other player, please do not play multiple 'alts' interacting with each other. Outlands previously had a rule where you could not play more than one Ruler. This has now changed however these rulers should ideally never meet. If staff find out you are multi accounting to gain advantage over another player, they will act accordingly.

    10. The dream is very large but please be considerate about where you choose to go AFK. If you idle outside of somebody else's den entrance, staff may have to come and move you so people can actually get inside.

    11. Ensure your character is 'IC Ready'. This means that you have read these rules and are entering the IC area ready to role play. Your character meets the colour, species and size rules and you're all set to go. Once entering IC you have agreed and consented to abiding by all of these rules.
  • IC Character Guidelines

    Character Guidelines

    1. Outlands is a 'semi realistic' dream but we strongly encourage firm realism in your roleplay. For that reason, we have these rules to keep characters as realistic as possible while allowing mild exaggerated elements such as specific colours that may be used outside of "browns". Below in the 'Designs and Character Colours' section, you can see the full list of colours available to you.

    2. Before entering IC, your character should be the avatar (or the closest to) of the species you intend to be playing. By saying "!avatars" you can see the full list of available animals you can turn yourself in to. Please do not enter IC as anything but the species you are playing. This includes purchased digo's such as the anthro Dragon or Phoenix. Staff will have to pull you back to the OOC area.

    3. Your character must be a real and existing feral creature. Not extinct and nothing mythical or made up. Your creature must absolutely be native to Africa. If you wish to play a hybrid species such as a Liger, unfortunately the dream has a limited amount it is allowed at a time. You can check what is available on the Hybrid Applications forum if you request to become a member of the group. Magic and extraordinary powers of feats of strength is also prohibited.

    4. As we try to keep as close to realism as we can without spoiling the fun, unfortunately this means we have to limit the In Character size of certain animals which are Lions, Hyenas and Leopards as these are our most popular predator animals. For all other species, please make sure you read up on some fact sheets found online and ensure they are in your character descriptions or websites.

    5. Staff have to moderate these sizes rather strictly as people in the past would often make oversized 'war' characters. Please do not be offended if you are asked to change. These statistics are the guideline sizes and weights we allow player characters to be. Please be considerate.

    i) Lions may be any of the following subspecies:
African, Asiatic, Masai, Congo, Katanga and Transvaal

    ii) We do not allow:
    Barbary or Tsavo

    Lions:
    - Weight: 150 to 250 kg (330 to 550 lb)
    - Height: 1.2m
    - Length: 1.7m to 2.5m

    Lioness:
    - Weight: 120 to 185 kg (265 to 408 lb)
    - Height: 1.1m
    - Length: 1.4m to 1.8m

iii) Hyenas may be any of the following subspecies:
    Spotted, Striped

    Male Hyena:
    - Weight: 40 kg to 55 kg
    - Height: 70cm to 92cm
    - Length: 95cm to 170cm

    Female Hyena:
    - Weight: 44kg to 64kg
    - Height: 72cm to 94cm
    - Length: 97cm to 172cm

iv) Leopards may be any of the following subspecies:
    African, Arabian, Persian

    - Weight for males: 82 lb to 198 lb (37 kg to 90 kg)
    - Weight for females: 62 lb to 132 lb (28 kg to 60 kg)

    - Height for males: 60cm to 70cm
    - Height for females: 55cm to 63cm
    - Length for both genders: is between 90 and 190 cm

    v) Leopard hybrids (Liard and Leopons) must be kept between the sizes of Leopards and the Lioness. They may not be any bigger.

    6. Does your character have something like Leucisim or Melanism? Your character can have the chance to pass on these genetics to their cubs. You can track this by using these symbols on your websites or descriptions:
    Has Active Gene: ⚫
    Has Recessive Gene: ⊗
    Has No Recessive Genes: ◯

Recessive Genes currently include: Melanism, Leucism, Chimera and Albinosim.

(If you wish to add more just ask Out to add it to the list.)

An example of genes is as follows:
Parent Active x Parent Active = chance for active gene to be inherited.
Parent Active x Parent Recessive = chance for recessive or small chance for active to be inherited.
Parent Active x Parent None = Recessive inherited.
Recessive x none = Small chance for recessive inherited.

    7. There is No/Zero contact with humans in the Outlands (which is why it is named so.) If your character ends up here with a radio collar or a tag then they ended up here wearing it and it is no longer being tracked. Your character may not have trinkets, necklaces or 'human' accessories of any kind. We also do not allow lions with sabres or other prehistoric additions.

    8. We allow semi & mostly maned lioness and partially & no maned males. This means that so long as your character is clearly displaying some degree of sexual dimorphism then you should be fine. This image is a good indication of what we would allow, but please always ask staff if you are unsure.
  • Designs and Character Colours

    Designs and Colours

    1. Designs must look natural or as if they 'could be' natural. We like unique here, so long as it fits within the dream. Try your best to keep to a palette that blends well. If you are ever unsure about your design, have a reference ready! We are always happy to double check.

    2. Please do not have excessive stripes or spots on your lions unless you have hybrid approval. No swirls or stars or other exaggerated markings that are seen on 'sparkle dogs' for example.

    3. Your design can be simple or complex so long as it is still viable in the rules. The Lioden Wardrobe is a great place to experiment and the majority of BeeStarART is allowed (but please check with staff for the more flamboyant designs.)

    4. Accepted colours are:

    Manes:
Blood Red, Cherry Wood, Burnt Orange, Busy Orange, Noble Brown, Mahogany, Clever Maize, Tan, Passion, Black, Cloud Grey, White and Pinewood.

    Furs:
Cat Grey, Black, Mule Tan, Dust, Chocolate, Tawny, Mocha, Cream, Pinewood, White, Cloud Grey.

    Markings:
Cat Grey, Black, Mule Tan, Dust, Chocolate, Tawny, Mocha, Cream, Pinewood, White, Cloud Grey.

    Eyes:
    All colours.

    Badge:
All colours. This is usually your speech tag colour.

    Vest:
Grey Brown, Cream Brown, Pea Green, Light Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Light Dust, Dark Dust, Grey, Black, Light Mule, Dark Mule.

    Cape:
Grey Brown, Cream Brown, Pea Green, Light Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Light Dust, Dark Dust, Grey, Black, Light Mule, Dark Mule.

    Bracers:
Grey Brown, Cream Brown, Pea Green, Light Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Light Dust, Dark Dust, Grey, Black, Light Mule, Dark Mule.

    Trousers:
Grey Brown, Cream Brown, Pea Green, Light Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Light Dust, Dark Dust, Grey, Black, Light Mule, Dark Mule.

    Boots:
Grey Brown, Cream Brown, Pea Green, Light Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Light Dust, Dark Dust, Grey, Black, Light Mule, Dark Mule.
  • Combat Guidelines

    Combat Guidelines

    1. Combat is like marmite. People love it and will seek it out in their roleplay, others will avoid it like the plague. It's not a nice thing to lose a character in combat. Do try to have good sportsmanship and be considerate even if the person has agreed that is what would happen.

    2. We remind all users that again, combat applies under the semi consent rule. You need mutual approval from both sides, but if Jim goes to throw down, he better be prepared that Dave with probably hit back. Once combat has been agreed upon or fully initiated, it is up to both rp parties to decide the terms such as whether characters will suffer minor injuries, serious injuries or even death.

    3. We expect all combat to be 'self refereed', but if need be, a staff member will take a back seat and watch. You need only ask.

    4. Remember to attempt everything. As roleplay flows best when everyone gets a reaction chance, for example;
"Simba reached out with his claws, trying to slash Scar in the face."
"Scar flinched and stopped, swinging his head back to avoid the claws but stumbling. He gathered himself as quickly as he could before attempting to quickly snap at Simba's passing leg."
  • The Dreams Timeline

    Timelines

The numbers marked with (*) are the ones that are semi-optional. All others must be followed. While we understand you may want characters to progress quickly, you still need to be aware of other players around you and how they wish to age. We recommend using Cub - Adolescent - Adult - Elder as your timeline in most cases. So long as you are not rapidly ageing, forcing other characters to age around you and you are mating at appropriate ages, then staff will be chill.

This timeline is subject to change if the dream picks up popularity.

    1. All pregnancies last 1 IRL week.

    2. Cubs are newborns for 3 days. Blind, partially deaf and mute.

    3. One IRL week is one IC Month.*

    4. 3 IRL months is one IC year.*

    5. Females may mature at 2.5 years, for males it is 3.5 years. Only when your character is at these ages may your characters breed. This is the same for all cat and hyena species in the Outlands.

    6. Oestrus is one week per month to prevent cub spam.

    7. For cub litters, roll 1d12

    1 = 1 cub (8% chance).
    2-3 = 2 cubs (17% chance).
    4-6 = 3 cubs (25% chance).
    7-9 = 4 cubs (25% chance).
    10-11= 5 cubs (17% chance).
    12 = 6 cubs (8% chance).
Litters may not exceed 6 cubs. Any slots that are not filled are entirely up to the player on how this is roleplayed, whether she had stillborns, or whether they did not exist at all.

    8. Litters may contain DNA from more than two parents. This happens in the wild. For example, a female mates with two males, there is a chance both fathers will have their own cubs in the same litter. This may only occur in the first 2 days.

    9. A female may come back into oestrus/season/heat when her cubs have turned One years old IC.
  • Thank you for Reading

    Congrats! You reached the end!

Whether you skim read or really took the time to take it all in, we appreciate it and would like to thank you. Outlands would have nothing if it was not for it's fantastic community of patrons.

Below this is the staff terms of service that Furcadia gives us as dream owners. If you follow everything above you have nothing to worry about but if you are curious by all means feel free to read on
  • Dream Owners Rights

We strive to make a welcome and fun environment here but also one people can relax in without the throws of non-consent drama waiting upon login that a lot of Feral dreams have fallen to. This is the staff TOS and the Fucadia Dream Owners Bill of Rights that protects us, you and the dream.

    1. Being disrespectful to staff.
A staff member here is just doing their job. They have a specific set of rules to follow themselves to make sure the dream is running smoothly. Disrespect, ignorance and argumentative attitudes will not go far here.

    2. Being disrespectful to other patrons.
If staff are constantly getting reminders or complaints about your behaviour then staff will pull you up on it to find out what is wrong. If you repeatedly make somebody elses time here an issue, then you will be reprimanded for it.

    3. Breaking major rules.

Major dream OOC rules consist of:
    - Repeatedly incorrect colours despite a polite staff notice and the page designated to what colours are available.
    - Claiming to be a hybrid or a large oversized or disallowed species without prior staff approval.
    - Repeatedly changing your design to something unsuitable despite staff notice.
    - Being abusive to any one in the dream.
    - Theft of anything in the dream. Patch, port, another persons design, etc.

    Major IC rules consist of:
    - IC posting a non-consent post (rape, an attack, god-modding etc) without consent of the other player. We are a strict full consent dream. This is not tolerated in any circumstance.
    - Using alts to gain advantages over other patrons and plots.

    4. We have a 3 strike rule as staff here do not want to come down hard on players. Staff will let you know when you have received a strike, we would never just decide you are on your 3rd and kick you. (Unless you've really been a butt.)

    5. Remember that as soon as you walk into IC you subject yourself to all of these rules and you completely agree to them all. Failure to follow them just makes life difficult on all our parts. Just have fun and remember that you don't need to be the best to be somebody here.

The Dream Owner's Bill of Rights

1.) Ultimately, the Dream Owner is the rightful owner of the Dream. It isn't a public forum, it's a private institution and the Dream Owner is responsible for it. A Continuity may come to feel like it belongs to its players but if it depends on the presence of a Dream, the Continuity belongs to the owner of the Dream. Power to enforce any Dream policy depends heavily on the powers granted to Officers by the Dream Owner.

The Dream Owner has the right to appoint the Officers, and to delegate any of the powers as they see fit or take rightful power back, as necessary.

Unless the Dream Owner specifies otherwise, the Dream will not come to be owned by its "regulars". (One exception to this is in the case of Dream ownership by a Guild.)

2.) The Owner determines the purpose of the Dream. That purpose may be Roleplaying, or it can be many other things. It is the Dream Owner's responsibility to make this clear, to help avoid confusion or future conflicts.

3.) The Dream Owner has the right to set what level of adult content, swearing, and violence are appropriate. (A Suggested Policy: "If it's OOC, do *not* swear at other players.")

4.) The Dream Owner has the right to ban any type of content.
When this is done to prevent harassment of an individual or a group, and to prevent the souring of the Dream's atmosphere, it is not "censorship". A Suggested Policy: "Out of respect for those who have experienced, or know someone who has experienced it, there will be no rape plotlines."

5.) The Dream Owner has the right to define the Continuity. That includes the IC history and the establishment of the top factions. The Dream Owner has the right to decide what Factions control the IC power in the game world's milieu. All IC organizations/institutions implying the existence of NPC's (for example, a charity, a masonic order, a long-established noble or rich family, or a gang) require approval from the HST.

The Dream Owner can declare that this is a specific place, such as Furcadia, Pern, Gor, Vulcan, Tattooine, etc. They may declare it an established genre or their own made-up world. It is the Dream Owner's responsibility to communicate this to their Guests.

6.) The Dream Owner has the right to demand anything they want from guests, in exchange for entry. Furcadia never grants any furre the right to enter their Dream. (And, of course, if the Dream Owner isn't sensible about it, the Guests will just go elsewhere.)

In a Roleplaying Dream, the Dream Owner may demand a change in background or powers to bring another player's character in line with their Dream. Or the Dream Owner might just request changes. Or the Dream Owner might completely leave it up to guests. In a game with statistics: For the good of the game, a game master can reset all statistical information, and has the right to do so without being subject to whining. Trust that the HST will only do this if absolutely necessary.

7.) The Dream Owner has the right to demand a Retcon* of any scene that violates the rules of the game. (Many would think this goes without saying, but it needed to be said). For example, suppose a Player roleplays their Kindred character licking a hemophiliac's swordcut closed. According to the rules, vampires can only do this with their own bites. Whether or not this scene *should* be *Retconned depends on the specifics, but be aware that the HST does have the right to insist on it.

8.) The Dream Owner has the right- and responsibility- to remove or discipline anybody that abuses their knowledge or powers. The Dream Owner has the right to remove any Officer without discussion if they are not fulfilling their duties.

9.) Furcadia will support the privacy of the Dream Owner, in a reasonable manner. The Dream Owner has the right to say who may or may not play in the Dream. Unfortunately, Furcadia cannot grant the Dream Owner the right to know a player's IP, and will not normally take disciplinary action against someone for what they do in a Dream. There are a few rare exceptions; talk to an Owsla if you have questions.

10.) The Dream Owner has a right to not be pestered. "Do not bug Happy Fun Dream Owner."
