    Claiming Dens and Prides

    1. Prides and packs may claim free dens around the dream. These start out as the marks with white glows around them. You only claim the den itself, not the entire land. When your application has been accepted, you will be assigned a colour and your den will be changed to that colour. As your pride grows, so does their territorial influence.

    2. To claim a den, you must have the following;
    - Have a designated leader in a pride of 3+ members. This must not include alts.
    - An expressed interest in a vacant den area and have staff see you rping around it. Making IC claim.
    - Fill out a form on the forum (here).

    3. Prides may only consist of lions or lion hybrids. Prides may not have on their roster hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, prey etc. This is the exact same rule for packs and herds as well. In short, all groups may only be the same species as each other.

    4. Prides who have a den must remain active and RP around it at least once or twice a week. Due to past issues, all RP must be done IC in the Dream. We do not allow you to sit around AFK while your RP on third party software. You are just taking up a den somebody else may have.

    5. No cub prides. Meaning a bunch of yearlings or younger may not gang together and start a pride to try and claim land.

    6. As a general rule of thumb, only prides and packs may claim dens. This does not however stop you making your own herds, monkey troops or coalitions.

    7. FAQ;

    "What is an influence ring?"
    - Dens now have something called 'influence rings'. Your pride now only owns it's den and not the entire land it is on. All dens will appear on the website map as 'white'. These mean they are unclaimed.
    Leaders will now pick a colour and depending on the size of your pride/pack, your rp activity and some other factors, will extend your influence ring so that your group owns all of the coloured area as their territory.
    Influence can fluctuate and go up or down, but your dens will always be safe if you are meeting the standard requirements.

    If for example, Pride A have an influence ring of red that covers a herd, but Pride B's influence ring in blue begins to overlap it, then it is up to both prides to roleplay this out. The semi consent rule still applies, but you are IC sharing that herd.

    "I want a den, but they're all full. What do I do?"
    - If you have started a pride but all the dens are full, there are some rogue ones you must self referee and can lay 'self-claim' to. But it will be your prides duty to protect it and the territory owners may not be welcoming.

    "I want to take over a den with my pride."
    - While the consent rule will stand for combat, your pride is free to challenge another one for their lands. This does not necessarily have to be a fight, but often is. If you're struggling to find consensus in both leaders, staff will be happy to settle the dispute and help. Remember that the land owners can deny the challenge.

    "I don't have a pride, but I want to take over one."
    - As above, if you wish to take over a pride remember the consent rule. Staff will mediate any situations where there is no consensus.

    "I am a King with land and somebody has just come up and challenged me. Can I decline?"
    - Of course you can. Nobody can take your fun away from you here. If someone comes up to challenge you, and you say no, (OOC and IC), then the challenger must walk away. Staff will not take kindly to people who do not abide the consent rule here.

    "The pride in that den is inactive, can we have it instead?"
    - If a pride has gone inactive, which means nobody has rped there within a week, then chances are staff are already aware. If not, then the same rule as claiming an open den will apply. Make sure your pride fits all the needs, and rp around the den for some time. Staff will take notice and will hand over the den should the other pride not return.

    "I'm going away on holiday, will my pride and den be safe?"
    - If you as a leader have told staff of a holiday or vacation etc, then your lands will be safe. However, it will still fall to the members of your pride to remain active. Just because you are away, doesn't mean your pride should not be functioning. You will not loose anything if you let staff know beforehand, but activity still applies.

    "I have a large hyena pack, can we claim a den?"
    - Of course you can. While Outlands is primarily a lion oriented dream, we welcome all forms of roleplay. Hyena and Wild Dog packs apply to all the same rules as the prides and lions do.

    "I have a King who owns X land, can I make an alt and claim another land?"
    - Yes you can. However, these two Kings should never ideally meet. Please do not roleplay plots between your two prides.

    "I am King of a Pride that owns X land, but somebody has asked my other character to be their Queen. Is this ok?"
    - Yes but with the same rule as above. Do not have your characters roleplaying with each other.

    "I am King of a Pride that owns X land, but I want to also make a hyena clan. Can I?"
    - Yes you can. Both groups as above must not be allies and try to have little interaction with each other.
