INTRODUCTION
This quiet place seems like it fell from the pages of a storybook and into existence. It sits on the farthest edge of a Valley, surrounded on three sides by foothills and mountains. To the East, the only side not guarded by the hills, the ocean roars and pounds the beach. Its shoreline sweeps along and gradually fades to be replaced by lush grass.
The forest spans much of the North and Western portion of the land, covering those hills and riddled with riding trails, a few streams and even the roughed-out faces of several cliffs that overlook the Valley.
To the South lies the dirt road that leads out of the Valley and into the city, though people rarely leave their technologically advanced, fast-paced lives for the quiet of the countryside.
What was once a thriving, happy little community has become a ghost town. Where state of the art equestrian facilities had once made their home, now leaning walls, leaking roofs and broken panes of glass are predominant. Some buildings have collapsed entirely, leaving no traces of their previous purpose.
On the Western end of the Valley a huge manor sits, slowly being overtaken by the tenacious grip of English ivy. A tree has somehow sprouted from the roof, slanting dangerously out over the edge. Its roots sprawl over the shingles and down one face of the building as though it is attempting to break in.
The windows on the ground floor are all boarded up. Perhaps someone had planned to leave this place, or maybe the local authorities came and boarded it up themselves. "No Trespassing" signs are posted everywhere one looks.
You have chanced upon this place, perhaps in your search to escape the chaos of modern life, the noise of city living, or maybe just to escape an enemy...
But beware, traveler, for though this place seems empty and still, something otherworldly may yet inhabit some of the ruins.
Just because you close your eyes, it doesn't mean no one's there.
