The Archilles is what is known as the authoritarian government that rules the system that is located closest to the Andromeda. Known for its ruthless and iron-fist politics, anything that doesn't benefit its totalitarian ways, usually gets mowed over and stripped of everything it ever could have been.
While it has its main hold on the Haer system, its hand reaches far and wide, with members of its order in politics all around the universe. This allows it to have some sort of light of what is going on in other systems. While it may have many fear-inspired allies, it has many enemies as well, which is why the Andromeda keeps itself right on the edge of Archilles territory... on the side where its enemy resides. Using the political unrest as its protection, it is the reason that the Andromeda hadn't been obliterated.
