Are you using keyboard or pad controls? Either way go into your settings and keybindings to set what's most comfortable for you.
Keyboard, however, the problem is a full inventory and no one to sell it to.

Hmmm, okay, you don't have just a basic merchant you can sell to? I just existed the tutorial last night and made it to the location where I left the house where the Dark Elf warrior woman was. I don't remember her name.

It's possibly a timed-out error, it's been happening all afternoon.

Another player approached me yesterday, Nethercall, when I was distracted, I thought they wanted to make friends so in the confusion I clicked accept (I'm still exploring the controls). I discovered this morning I'm a member of a guild I never requested. Silver Abyss.

I hate when people invite you to a guild without speaking to you.
If you open the guild window you should be able to leave.
The only useful guilds are good crafting guilds because they will make things for you, you can store extra crafting materials and have access to new and more advance crafting recipes.
You can be in up to five different guilds and even create your own, but you don’t have to be.
Edit: It is worth creating a guild since you can have an access to a large bank inventory for crafting. Craft receipes will get you better armour, weapons, food restoratives and potions that are better than any in game loot drops. You will also be able to craft furniture for housing as well. You get at least one free room as housing from a quest. I think there are others, but I’ve been away from the game for almost a year.
