The nexus of the nexus, so to speak, the lobby of the Omphalos is a bustling hive of activity at nearly all times of day, providing access to all of the building's various floors. Just past the automated information desk are two sets of stairs and a pair of sleek, high speed elevators, which allow for easy movement throughout the facility. A hall behind that leads to the temporal hub, while a door on the opposite side opens to the outside. Light filtering in through the high windows above spills through colored panels of glass, painting the tiled floor below in translucent blues and teal-greens, roughly forming the signature shield knot of the AotM. Cushioned seating in the same hues cluster around low, round tables here and there, partially shielded by various domestic plant life. As the lobby tends towards high traffic, those in search of more serene workspaces often gravitate towards the adjacent lounge, or quieter locations located on other floors to work, such as the library. Nevertheless, for those unfazed by the noise and activity, there are places to sit, and even a few computer stations tucked away here and there in relatively quieter corners. Beyond its role as a transit hub, the lobby also plays an important role in communication and supply. Incoming mail is collected here, encompassing both internal mail within the Omphalos, and weekly collections of mail and packages collected from various worlds via the Gates. Those interested in procuring a personal mailbox can do so at the front desk, and those who wish to assist in the collection, sorting, and delivery of said mail can assist by signing up with the Stewardship Specialization. Junior Stewards tend to get the more boring, local jobs, but fully trained Stewards often find themselves with the opportunity to travel to various different worlds to collect and deliver the Omphalos's more important mail. A little past the mailboxes can the lobby’s Public Gates can be found. These Gates don't require a key gauntlet to operate, but the terminals only allow passage to pre-designated ‘safe’ worlds such as Sanctuary, and security tends to keep an extra tight eye on these gates to discourage trouble-makers.
You've got Interdimensional Mail!
Any resident of the Omphalos has the option of opening an HQ based mailbox. The mail comes every day and is collected from locations in several different universes. Universes outside of those defaults can be specially requested, but mail deliverers are allowed to ask for compensation if the location is particularly difficult to get to or dangerous. The ones picking up and delivering the mail are usually Omphalos Stewards with enough clearance for Gate travel. Residents can also set up mail delivery directly to their apartments if they live within the Omphalos. The mail center is in the back of the lobby behind the elevators and front desk, and shares space with the Omphalos's public Gates. Outgoing mail can be sent to anywhere in the Omphalos and beyond from the mail center. For agents and residents, most mail is free. Non-agents not living in the Omphalos can also utilize the mail center, but will usually have to pay to use the service if they're sending mail or packages outside of the Omphalos.[/url].
Stairs or the Elevator?
The Omphalos's Lobby has two high speed elevators that go all the way to the top floor and all the way to the sub floors. Some floors require a key gauntlet and proper clearance to access and the elevator will not move if you do not have those access privileges. The elevators are tall enough to fit some as tall as 11' 9" with a little head room, and are about 8x8 feet wide. They can hold about 3,000 lbs. Anything bigger or heavier than that will have to use the stairs, and the elevator will alert if it detects any weight heavier than this.
Fruits & Foliage
Like most places in the Omphalos, the Lobby's decorative greenery also serves the purpose of feeding the AotM. There are some lemon and orange trees, so the Lobby occasionally smells like citrus and citrus tree flowers, and a dwarf apple tree in a particularly sunny section of the lobby. HQ's gardeners tend to turn a blind eye to snackers if you're on good terms with them, but taking too much or damaging the trees will earn you their wrath.
Ask the Information Desk
The Omphalos's information desks are self serve, programmed with powerful automated programs helped to guide visitors in finding the information they seek, or on signing up with the AotM. The desks are both voice activated and keyboard accessible. Those who truly have trouble with the computers can request an agent assigned to desk duty that day, who is usually hovering somewhere nearby, or there are also paper versions of many of the information pamphlets, maps, and forms needed. |

Note: Only registered agents may sign up for jobs within the Omphalos. Home Team are still considered agents, even if they don't go on missions or infrequently go on missions. Civilians do not have the clearance for these jobs. However, if you have an agent who has the proper specialization, then you are welcome to pick up any job listed here for them. Feel free to contact Jabber if you have questions! Mail Carriers At Least Junior Steward Stewards with this task collect mail from PO Boxes in other Universes and the distribution center in Sanctuary, as well as mail from agents within the Omphalos. They then distribute that mail to the proper mail boxes within HQ's Mail Center, take special mail to individual apartments, or take other outgoing mail to Sanctuary or to designated Gates. Where your mail person can pick up and deliver from will depend on their clearance level. Each Gate is different. Sometimes very unique packages require tracking an individual down personally. Help Desk Attendant Any Agent with Clearance Level 2 Help Desk Attendants will receive a ping on their key gauntlet any time someone requests live assistance through the automated help desk in the lobby. They can chat with the requester through the computer's interface, either through a live feed or through text, or they can come out and meet them directly. Either way, its their responsibility to answer questions and provide directions and information as needed. OOC Information (Select to Learn More)
▴ The Gate in the Lobby has pre-programmed destinations for public use. Any world with the clearance level of zero may be accessed through this Gate by both agents and non-agents. Mostly this is used to travel back and forth from the Omphalos to Sanctuary, as the Omphalos is retained in its own pocket dimension. There is security near the Gate at all times to ensure that problem elements don't sneak their way into the Omphalos, and that no one is causing trouble or misusing the Gates. ▴The computers in the Lobby and the rest of the Omphalos can connect to any universe's internet where there is an established Enclave with an internet connection, providing that world has those capabilities. As that connection is provided through those local Enclaves, only what is available in that Enclave's direct area can be connected to within the Omphalos. An isolated system couldn't connect to, say, an internet network on different planet in the same universe. Questions & Answers (Select to Learn More)
