  • BACKGROUND

    「Brief History」

    ➤ Jack was born into the Blackwell family alongside brothers who tortured him throughout his life. One day, he suffered a traumatic injury that rendered him mute, and if weren't for the interference of his mother, a skilled alchemist, something much worse would've transpired. Feeling isolated, he turned to alchemy as an escape and spent the better part of his early years alone.

    ➤ Jack grew as a budding alchemist, and as he did so, he also gained an interest in the bloodlust that held creatures such as him under spell. Once he was old enough, he immediately left his home for the small town of Rowanwick where he met his best friend, Samantha Sykes, and became the apprentice of an old man whose shop he inherited after his mentor passed of age.

    ➤ Jack eventually struck an alliance with some like-minded scientists and professors in the neighboring city of Los Lunares. Together, they created a bloodlust suppressant, SATE, through trial and error with human blood and other ingredients, but not everyone was content. One of his coworkers committed arson to destroy the research, and he took the fall for everything.

    ➤ Jack resorted to horrendous means to offer cryptids an alternative to killing and maximize the death ratio. Still at large, he and his syndicate abducted the unwary by night to be brought to Underhive and harvested for parts. Between managing the business and seeking a more permanent solution, he just recently discovered that Samantha, now an investigator, is on his trail.

    Jack is both human and manticore and possesses two names, depending on which side of the family he currently chooses to affiliate. Since he lives in a human world and civilization, he most often goes by his human name. After marrying, let it be noted that he legally adopted his wife's surname.

    Jack is a stocky man marbled with muscles and pudge. Bestial in nature and worn from a difficult life, he has lime-green catlike eyes, three rows of sharp teeth, clawed digits, pointed ears, and a scar on his upper-right lip. Pale chestnut hair falls in waves just above his shoulders, while triangular whiskers cover his jawline. A scorpion (left shoulder) and crossed axes with a music note above (back) consist of his tattoos.

    Jack is almost always seen in an alchemist's tunic, favoring clothes that signify his status as a man of medicinal academia. For more mundane endeavors, he'll don a coat and some jeans, but he usually possesses a matching hat and at least some sort of foot wraps, if not sandals. Fond of masculine jewelry, he wears a silver ring on his left thumb and a wedding band on the appropriate finger beneath his gloves.

    Jack may be capable of taking on his natural form as a manticore, but there are currently no documented visual records of this since he preferers the convenience and practicality of the humanoid body.

    Jack is quick to reveal the machine of his being. Even on his worst days, he manages to be slow to anger and quick to be appeased. An inquisitive soul, he likes to explore curiosities and is easy to indulge with a good conversation. Humor is important to him and the way he goes about life, rolling with the punches with a hearty tongue-in-cheek outlook.

    Jack is better known for his darker side. Competency, cunning, and half a lifetime of wounds have helped make him into the force he is today, although he's far more likely to reason than kill. Predatory by nature, he often preys to instill fear, and he's proficient in finding ways to make his victims pay for their crimes against both him and mankind.
