Having trekked their way to the West coast, a ranger and his Pokemon crossed along rivers under the shadow of mountains and through wilderness to finally arrive in the middle of Pineroot Woods. By the information given to him by the other Rangers, more familiar with the territory than he, this Ranger was nearing the town of Whalerdrake. It was just through the cramped woods and spider webbed pathways.

His camp was made within a dying tree that a hole in the side of its fallen girth large enough to fit a few people in it comfortably. It was much warmer than the cave from an earlier night, and the sounds of the forest were present: Pokemon calls and the occasional falling branch. Just over the edge of the woods ahead, when standing on the fallen tree, the Ranger could see the town's shoddily repaired roofs.

The trek into town took a bit of time, but having braved the spider webs, rotting trees, pitfalls, and the wild animal calls (even though the Pokemon that they belonged to didn't show up), the Ranger was able to make it into Whalerdrake. Just as he arrived, several of the townsmen were standing around, looking queerly at one of the buildings, "Didja see that? Looked like the Pokecenter guys. Strange." Then they assumed talking about what they caught this morning, fishing.

The town was rather small, only having a few houses, a Pokemart, and a Pokecenter. There was also the Nirvana Reserve which was another light trek towards the peninsula of Whalerdrake. There were no fancy restaurants, but the fishing of Whalerdrake was sufficient enough to sustain the town on its own, but hardly was income-worthy.
