  • Travel
    Divider1.png
Kasuria-Scarhawk_1.jpgSince the political tension in Kasuria began to heighten, travel has become more difficult.

Garrisons and security checkpoints have been popping up along major trade routes, to limit the flow of resources between rebel factions.

Most common folk travel by footpaw, any other method is far too expensive, especially with taxes on the rise.

Along the roads, a traveler might be able to convince an Ostrix Caravan to take them a little way. Ostrixes are flightless birds that have speed and pulling strength comparable to horses.

They are used to pull carts and coaches, and they can also be ridden with a saddle.

Keeping any riding animal is expensive and difficult. Most farmers have at least one, but in the city most folk don't have the space for them.

Scarhawks and True Dragons (Dracosaurs) are large creatures that are capable of flying with furres on their backs. Scarhawks are native to Kasuria, while Dracosaurs are native to Drakoria. It's unlikely that anyone but the very rich, or a knight would own one of these. There is a long standing rivalry between Scarhawk riders and Dracosaur riders in Kasuria. All Raptor Knights own one of these mounts.

    Scarhawks VS Dracosaurs

    Scarhawks
The fastest creatures in the air.
They are relatively small compared to Dracosaurs, and can not carry much more
weight than a single adult. Temperamental creatures, they are notoriously difficult to train, especially if caught wild. Once a Scarhawk has accepted a rider, they become highly possessive of them and will often refuse to be ridden by anyone else.
    Dracosaurs
Larger than Scarhawks, they can carry more weight and are far more dangerous. They are less maneuverable in the air, however. A Dracosaur can carry two adults, and are less particular about who interacts with them than Scarhawks.

Airships - Are very rare, very expensive floating vessels made with bugge saliva. Sometimes they are pulled by Scarhawks. For the most part they are military or trading vessels, very few furres have access to them.
  • Religion

    The Primes.

For the most part worship of the Primes is casual. The good Primes do not demand worship, however there are orders of soldiers and clerics who devote their lives to them. These orders are based in Truelight Abbey.

The Dark Primes require much more fanaticism from their worshippers. Dark Primes worship is outlawed, and their creations - vampyres, werefurres, and demifane are hunted down and slain.

  • At A Glance: Politics
    Divider1.png

Kasuria is a feudal society with a Royal family, noble houses, landowners and serfs. The King has a standing army, but individual landowners also employ soldiers.

Knights may take the banner of individual lords and ladies, but their ultimate loyalty is to the King.

Seven years ago, King Constantine died. His son, King Callistin, made a number of decrees that made life difficult on the herbivore population of Kasuria. Taxes against omnivores and herbivores were raised significantly. This caused a backlash that resulted in country Darvin, in the East, declaring independence. It is now called Hadar a'Vin.

Tensions between carnivores and herbivores are high. Pockets of resistance have sprung up all over Kasuria, and in some cases have become violent. The King is spreading his army across the land to try and quell any insurrections, while he fights to reclaim Hadar a'Vin in the name of the crown.

  • The Revolution

The seed of revolution is repression.
    -Woodrow Wilson

With one county in open defiance, and pockets of resistance appearing all over Kasuria, King Callistin has been making his military might known across the continent.

A rebel faction of Raptor Knights occupied Scarhawk Castle, however it has since been defeated, and the castle reclaimed by the Crown. Their leader was captured, but quickly escaped.

Taxes have risen to aid in the mustering of a larger army and navy. Many Kasurians, especially herbivores, are being bled dry.

As Loyalists and Rebels clash in the countryside, farms that feed entire communities are being affected. Starvation is a serious possibility for many common folk come winter.

There are rumours of dark magic being practiced in the King's castle, making the allegiance of the martial orders of Truelight Abbey difficult to determine. The clerics and holy warriors have yet to take sides.

  • Raptor Knights
    Divider1.png

The main order of Knights in Kasuria. They are chosen and knighted by the King.

King Callistin knighted a number of new Raptor Knights when he took the throne. Some of them were herbivores, but none of the herbivores were under the age of fifty four.

While their highest oath is to the King, some Raptor Knights have openly defied the Royal family over matters of conscience, in reaction to the treatment of the herbivore population. Most, however, remain fiercely loyal to the King, who is responsible for their comfortable position, and prestige.

Raptor Knights come with many disciplines. Some are skilled with melee weapons, others ranged weapons, some are even mages. They are held to very high standards of discipline and martial skill.

Ideally, before a furre is knighted he selects a juvenile Scarhawk or Dracosaur to train with. When their training is complete, Raptor Knights often opt to psionically bond with their mount. This bond allows them much greater effectiveness in the air, and lets them communicate on a very basic level through emotions. It has its dangers, however, and can only be performed once in a rider's lifetime.

A Raptor Knight and his mount are companions for life.
