Rules

  • Roleplaying Standards

Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.
    -Douglas Bader

    Post Time
We get it. RL happens. Animals and children make messes, chores need doing, emergencies happen. However, please be courteous to other players. Say [brb five minutes] or at least [brb].

If you expect to be gone for a long time, recuse yourself from the roleplay.

There is a dream wide post timer of ten minutes. If you do not post on your turn within ten minutes, you may be skipped.

Please note: If you make a habit of going afk in the middle of roleplays, you may be removed from the dream.

    Conduct
Please be respectful of each other and of the staff. Your interactions with other players in whispers, and on the main map are an important part of maintaining a healthy dream culture.

Be welcoming of new players, and inclusive in your roleplaying habits.

    Plots
You are not required to take part in dream plot events, but by playing here you understand that those events may affect your character.

You are welcome to suggest plot ideas, but please post them on the forums or approach a member of staff in whispers if they include:

    • NPCS.
    • Magic.
    • Battle or violence involving more than two PCs.
    • Damage/alteration of dream assets.

    Flavor
We're all here to have fun, and we want you to RP what makes you happy. However this dream has a certain flavor and we want to maintain it.

You are welcome to perform relationship/romance roleplay, however please do not focus on it in public. This doesn't just apply to public smut, it means be wary of pulling other people into your personal plotlines unless they have asked to be involved.

    Continuity
Kasuria was an enlightened monarchy until King Callistin showed up, so there are some inherent anachronistic themes. However be careful with modern concepts, ideas, philosophies and political stances. You may be asked to change your character if their viewpoint is too modern.

What happens in other dreams stays in other dreams, and what happens in Scarhawk Castle stays in Scarhawk Castle. This includes character history and acquaintances from other continuities.

There is one notable exception to this rule:
    Greystone Tavern

    Character Death
Character death has the potential to improve roleplay by adding serious stakes, but also the potential to be a disruptive force in a continuity.

We are not banning character death, in fact we have implemented allowances for resurrection into the dream. However, any character death in the dream requires permission from a moderator.

By playing here, you also understand that the moderators may require your character to die as a consequence for certain actions:

    • committing crimes punishable by death, for example.

We're not here to kill your characters, and will work with you to find alternative solutions in most cases. We are compelled, however, to assert realistic consequences for character actions.
  • Quick Summary

    The following is unacceptable:
    • Bullying of any kind OOC
    • Power-playing
    • Meta-gaming
    • Public Indecency
    • Using OOC Knowledge IC
    • OOC in IC areas (It’s ok to ask for reposts, let people know you’re leaving, etc.)

We are all here to have fun! Please be polite to each other and remember that we're all players behind the screen.

In the event that players cannot settle something amongst each other, contact a staff member to mediate.

You'll find a great deal of information concerning current plot events on the forums, as well as rumours, occasional logs, and some out of character fun. If you want to be directly involved in dream plot, then keeping an eye on the forums is a very good idea.

This is where rules that don't 'really' have a category are going to be. They are as valid as all other rules on the site and forums.

    Work For it Rule
In order to ensure that chars are not advanced at a blistering rate, or that wild and frequent changes need to be made to dream DS and map (think of the weavers, ours works very hard) here's some guidelines. If you want to take your char or char's property (house, equipment, etc.) to the next level we are not going to give out a bunch of easy or quick solutions. Many of the interesting parts of RP are the struggle to get to your goal, and we don't want to take that away (also it gives us time to write plots).
For example: If you want to put a wood-slat roof on your house chars would be willing to help you acquire tools to do the work, maybe even pitch in a few hours labor. Chars should not simply cast a spell or drop on down to the market to pick up all the materials then finish the work in a day. Another example: Your char wants to learn how to use a sword, and asks if there is an intense training method that will make them proficient in a few weeks.Chances are it is not gonna happen. Skills take time to pick up, so please use discretion with how quickly or easily your char advances. We're here more for the journey than we are for toasting ale mugs at the end.
  • Technology

    Prohibited:
    Modern technology of any kind

    Restricted: :
    Pawgunnes
    Explosives
