  • Out Of Character Rules

    1. We are a canon continuity. This means that all things that exist in the Dragonlands canon in Furcadia exist here. This also means that all things that do not exist in the Dragonlands canon do not exist here. The following are examples of things that do not exist in Dragonlands canon:

    Humans
    Half-humans
Vampfurres/Werefurres that do not strictly abide by Furcadia's definition of them
    Angels, demons, incubi/succubi, etc.
Countries and kingdoms not explicitly stated in Dragonlands canon
Technology that is not medieval in design

This list does not cover everything that is not permitted in the continuity. Use common sense! :)

    2. We operate under Cool 2 for consent-level only. This means that the only action which requires your consent is the death of your character -- anything else could happen, depending on the situation you put him/her into. This also means that OOC and IC should remain separate, not allowing info to bleed from one to the other. However, we do not require you to have a Furre! character sheet -- those are simply a reference point if you wish to make one.

    3. Please be respectful of the admin staff of this dream. We're a friendly bunch, and even if we are busy, we do want to help you! Rudeness, however, will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to exercise Furcadia's Silence Rule and to eject you from our dream for relentlessly disrespectful behavior.

    4. Please remain IC. If you must have an OOC conversation, please either do it in whispers or away from other players. If several other players must see what you're posting for RP reasons, use brackets [ ] to enclose your comments. Sometimes this is necessary, and we understand that. "[Is this event timestopped?]" is an example of necessary OOC. However, "[This reminds me of that scene in The Godfather LOL]" is not.

Excessive OOC ccomments will get you ejected from the dream if it is clear that you are bothering other players.

    5. Regarding public damage: No runes protect the inside of The Miner's Pick, Cross's local tavern. However, before you inflict any sort of damage on the tavern, or any other buildings for that matter, you must obtain permission from Adele Varens first.

    6. Nobility is limited. There is only one king in Kasuria, and he is King Constantine the XIII. While it is possible that, with permission from Adele, you may play a member of one of the Kasurian noble houses, no character you bring to Challiston Cross may be a member of the royal family. Likewise, the only kingdoms outside of Kasuria that are recognized are the Olde World kingdoms, and those kings and queens are established NPCs. If you are interested in playing an Olde World noble, please contact Adele first.

    7. Keep uploaded dreams appropriate. Patrons are allowed to request dream upload spots on the continuity map in order to upload their characters' homes. However, these spots are not to be used in order to upload dreams that are unrelated to Challiston Cross Continuity -- no personal OOC dreams, no 'Harry Potter' dreams, etc. That's what Imaginarium is for!

    8. Regarding visitors: If you are a visitor to our continuity and do not want to participate until you have an idea of what our RP style is like, that's perfectly alright -- but please make sure that you include at either the beginning or the ending of your character's desc, [Visitor]. That way, if your current alt does not adhere specifically to our continuity rules, we know that you aren't present IC.

    9. No spying, please. While Visitors are encouraged, spying is not. Spying occurs when a player sits his or her avatar down in the middle of a scene where RP is already taking place, but does not post into the scene. This is considered extremely rude behavior and will not be tolerated. If you must idle in the dream, please do so in an area where no RP is taking place at the time.

This rule is extended to include activities such as running through the dream OOCly. We understand if you would like to check out the map, but that is what a [Visitor] tag is for. If you are looking for others to RP, great! But when you find another player, it is rude not to offer some sort of post. They see your character; all you need to do is recognize theirs as well!

    10. Regarding conflicts: There is no required system for combat or conflict resolution, but if you are unable to resolve an issue with another player through calm and respectful discussion, an admin has the right to step in and make a decision for you. Save yourself the trouble and agree on how you will settle things prior to starting combat or conflict. If you can’t agree, perhaps it’s best to try some alternative RP.

Some Notes That Are Not Rules, But Should Be Looked At Anyway:

These are not rules, but helpful suggestions that will make integrating your character into our continuity a little easier.

Role-playing is interactive! If you want your character to establish him or herself in the Continuity, interact with the other players! Sitting alone in a corner of the tavern, sighing sadly and lamenting your lot in life is not forbidden behavior in Challiston Cross -- but it certainly won't guarantee you roleplay. Have your characters introduce themselves to their new neighbors, ask about the latest news in town; there is plenty of RP to be had, but it isn't going to fall into your lap. ;)

Incredibly powerful characters can be fun to play, but what makes a character most interesting is his or her weaknesses -- past injuries, phobias, emotional vulnerabilities, and even weaknesses to certain types of magic. A character that seems impervious to anything and everything threatening is not a challenge to play -- nor is he or she fun to interact with.

As Challiston Cross is a medieval society, negative attitudes toward certain species and groups are normal. As the country is currently at war, Drakorians (“good” or bad) will be and should be looked down upon, mistrusted, and perhaps attacked. Society would likewise be mistrustful of dangerous creatures like vampfurres and lycanthians, etc. If you decide to play an unfavored type of character, please keep in mind that you will have to deal with your character being treated in such a manner. Do not expect to be the most popular furre!
