Ryan nodded and waited for him. The gash on his head wasn't anything too terrible, but it looked like it hurt alot and required some stitches.
Natalia nodded. "Got all of that, and I can help." She said as she handed the kits to Tanner.
Tanner took the kits and gave her a surprised look. She most likely knew a thing or two about treating wounds if she had all these medical kits on her.
"You know how to apply stitches," Tanner asked her. "I'm going to need all the help I can get if I'm going to treat all these wounded people."

Tatum grunted. He remembered when he used to run a food and gun store. Now this place turned into a medical ward.
"Katie, how's the generator looking?"
"Katie, how's the generator looking?"
Natalia nodded again. "Lead the way." She said before looking to Tatum. "I'll help with the shop once the wounded are taken care of."
Katie frowned. She had tried to spark even a minute's worth of power from the generator, but the machine was completely drained.
"She's dead," Katie glumly told him. "We're going to have to run and get a new one as soon as possible or we'll have to go through the night with a bunch of starving and unarmed people."

Tatum growled. He didn't like the sound of that. He remembered Tanner mentioning that the injured people needing food so they could take their medicine.
"Damn it," he shouted, slamming his fist onto the sturdiest counter top that he could find. "Just when we need that damn thing, it dies on us?!"

Tanner watched Tatum's reaction in slight fear. If a broken generator was enough to tick him off, he wondered what would happened if someone pissed the man off.
"Natalia's right," he advised. "We'll have to worry about the generator after we treat the wounded."
He then handed one of the medical kits to Natalia. "You mind stitching up the kid's head wound," Tanner asked her. He obviously meant Ryan Day.

Natalia nodded yet again as she took the offered kit. "No problem. C'mon kid." She said to Ryan as she walked past him and into Tatum's office.
Ryan nodded and followed her to the room.
"Daddy, can you disconnect the generator while we're treating the injured," Katie asked her father. "You're the only one who can do it."
Katie was right on the marbles about that, but the true reason for sending her father outside was for him to cool off. Her father did one impressive job of keeping all of his emotions in check, but she feared the worse case scenario.

"On it," Tatum responded. He walked briskly outside to check up on the device and to get a breath of fresh air.
Katie sighed. She really hoped that these people would be staying here a little longer. The shop isn't anything luxurious, but it still made a nice home.
"Come on, doc. They're this way."
Katie looked in Tatum's direction one last time before returning to her room.

Tanner watched Tatum leave and then Katie before following her.
What's his problem?
What's his problem?
Tatum managed to keep his composure as he approached Katie. He vowed not to mention a word about what he went through outside.
"Hey kiddo," he greeted as he ruffled her hair. "How're the new arrivals holding up?"

Her reaction could only be described as similar to when Alan patted her head.
"Well the doc's getting ready to operate," she informed. "One of the new girls are helping him."

Tatum sighed. He didn't want to waste the very few medical supplies they had. He decided to start a search for medicine after they handled the situation regarding the generator. The work around here would never seem to stop apparently, which started to get on his nerves.
"Tell everyone in your room to head over to my office as soon as possible," Tatum ordered. "Head there yourself once you relay the news."

Katie could tell that her father didn't approve of having extra people here. It was written on his face. Although he allowed it, Katie figured that her dad wouldn't stifle his feelings that much longer. The last thing she needed was to have him lose his mind, so she immediately obliged to fulfill his order.
"Yes sir," she responded with a playful salute. "I'll get right on it."
She turned and continued her soldier routine by marching over to her room.

Tatum had been holding back so much from his daughter that he almost forgot that she wasn't like other little girls. If there was something on his mind, he knew that he could tell her. He knew that he could tell her anything.
"Katie..." he started, almost at a lost of words. "Katie, you know those people can't stay here."

Katie stood in silence. She didn't turn around to face him, but she nodded her head.
"I know dad," she responded. "So let's not make this any longer than it has to be."
With that, she continued to head for her room.
