  • A note on our setting

To keep things as simple as possible, there won't be any canon deviation. If you've played the games each setting is from, then you know what you're getting into. As a reference, we'll post links to each world from the FF Wikia, and a picture of the world map.
  • Eras of Ivalice History

Currently there are only 2 era of time in Ivalice’s history that we roleplay in:
◆The Age of Technology (tagged as [AoT] in the roleplay forum.)
◆The War of Lions Era (tagged as [WOTL]in the roleplay forum)
These two Eras of Ivalice history differ greatly, considering [AoT] is mostly an age of airship technology and pirates, while the [WOTL] is a much more militaristic time in which some races, the Viera and the Moogles were effected by the Cataclysm. It is highly encouraged that players check out the Final Fantasy Wikia Pages regarding the setting of Ivalice. They’re very well maintained and have all the information you’d ever need to make an awesome character with. Have fun!

  • All About Ivalice

"Ivalice is a region consisting of three continents: Ordallia in the west with a secret islet called Den's Hideout, Valendia in the northeast, and Kerwon in the south. Only the lands bordering the Naldoan Sea are explored, although other Ivalician lands (the former Republic of Landis, etc.) are sometimes mentioned. In ancient times, King Raithwall united the three continents to create the Galtean Alliance, but over time conflicts split the continents again.

The continents are dominated by an assortment of industrialized city-states: the Archadian Empire and the Kingdom of Nabradia in Valendia, the Rozarrian Empire in Ordallia, and sandwiched between the two continents is the Kingdom of Dalmasca. Strategically located between the rival neighboring states of Archadia and Rozarria, Dalmasca's position as a neutral buffer region between the two countries is eliminated when it is invaded by the Archadian Empire. Reduced to an occupied territory under Archadian rule, Dalmasca plays a central role in the still-heated dispute between its neighbors, which is again escalating. "

    ◆Lore◆
The world of Final Fantasy VIII has no known name. It is as diverse as it is large, composed of four large continents and one small continent along with several islands of varying sizes.

The overall architecture was designed with western European themes in mind, and as such many structures can be linked back to modern real-world buildings and locations that are both real and theoretical. Travel across the world is facilitated mainly by trains and cars. Because of the worldwide radio interference, communications across the world are suppressed, and no worldwide information network exists, there instead being local networks like the Balamb Garden intranet and the HD cable used by Galbadia. A derelict radio tower from a time before the radio interference engulfed the world remains near Dollet. The world's favorite pastime is the trading card game Triple Triad.

The various locales include: the laid-back seaside towns of Balamb and Dollet, the bustling metropoli of Deling City and Esthar City, the remote and mysterious retreats of Shumi Village and the Deep Sea Research Center, the quiet sanctuaries of Winhill and Edea's Orphanage, as well as the composed environments of the scorching Kashkabald Desert, the lush Rosfall Forest, the enigmatic Centra Ruins, and the dark, foreboding soul of Ultimecia Castle.

    ◆Races◆
►Humans - The main civilization consists of humans. Some women receive sorceress power.
► Shumi - Humanoids who evolve throughout their lifetime into forms such as Moombas and possibly even humans. They hail from the Shumi Village, but can be seen elsewhere.
► Aliens - A short blue humanoid, PuPu, visits the world of Final Fantasy VIII to abduct numerous artifacts.
► Monsters - Monsters are extraterrestrial beings from the moon that have being deposited on the planet due to the Lunar Cry. Many are aggressively hostile and are not beyond invading towns and other settlements to cause chaos.
