The Hydra

    //The Hydra

    The Hydra are massively variant abominations, birthed from pocket dimensions which open briefly and frequently across the world. Whilst it seems they are intent on closing the distance between them and EVE, they are viciously hostile towards humans. Little research has been conducted on their "home" dimensions, but biologically they share very similar genetic strands to that of EVE. Their directive and origin remain entirely unknown. Whilst vastly unique to each other in appearance, The Hydra are categorised by the following titles:

  • Did You Know?

    Hydra pocket-dimensions have thus-far appeared to only be one-way. A hydra has never been observed to retreat.
    • Common swarmer variant

  • //H-01: Swarmers

    Smaller, fragile beasts which make up for their individual weaknesses by grouping together in large numbers. These Hydra are commonly venomous and/or poisonous, and often bear insectoid features. Swarms are for the most part easier to deal with than other variants of Hydra, but still pose an immense threat to populated areas. The largest recorded swarm contained 297 flying Hydra, though numbers usually average at around 120.

    • Common hunter variant
  • //H-02: Hunters

    Hunters are a primitive, highly aggressive form of Hydra, known for their savage attacks and tendency to appear and roam in packs of 3-12. Their behaviour is akin to that of wolves, in that they will prey upon the weaknesses of their victims. Whilst someone is fending off one Hunter from the front, another will attempt to snap at their ankles. Hunters are somewhat predictable, but Children must be vigilant as to not let themselves be tricked by pack behaviour.

    • Loner variant

  • //H-03: Loners

    Loners are commonly recorded as the most advanced and deadly form of Hydra. Less primal and seemingly intelligent in nature, a Loner makes up for its independence with strange and unique mutations. They vary greatly in size and appearance, and are known to have abilities almost akin to the Children of EVE, such as soundwave emitting and minor telekinesis. Loners must be carefully observed before engaging; it is perhaps common sense to predict that a Loner who appears to be lacking defensively will more than likely display phenomenal offensive capabilities.

    • Colossi variant

  • //H-04: Colossi

    As the name suggests, the Colossi are Hydra which are gargantuan in size, ranging anywhere from the size of a double-decker bus to a ten storey building. They are slow and lumbering, and require a great deal of effort to bring down. In populated and urban areas, their mere presence can cause masses of collateral damage, resulting from their hulking size.
