The IOS

  • Wi6LWNd.png

“Orthodoxy means not thinking--not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.”

kRHn8Ls.png The Institute of Organic Science - better known as the IOS - was founded as the original stepping stone which allowed humanity to progress into the era known as New Earth. At the pinnacle of science, the IOS successfully funded and completed research into synthetic biology, formulating new methods of cultivation and harvest which eradicated the need for dire amounts of the world's resources.

When the entity dubbed EVE fell to Earth, the IOS quickly claimed her, wiring the extraterrestrial up to vitals and observing any changes to her present state. The IOS has lost most of its reputation for cultivation, and has instead become known world-wide as the headsman of Project:EVE.

As of now, the IOS's primary objective is to somehow provoke EVE into stirring. There has been little success thus far, and EVE remains deep beneath her slumber.

For information regarding EVE, see Children of EVE.

  • //Bio-Storage

Bio-Storage serves as a containment zone for all existing Children. The walls of this unit are decorated with countless "vaults," built and organised in a uniform, prison-like fashion. The doors to each cell are composed of reinforced glass, triple-glazed and bearing a set of steel security bars across each pane. Occasionally, one would find that the glass had been cracked; an indicator of an accident or incident awaiting repair. The walkways which climb each of the vast walls are emblazoned with numbers, marking each cell with a digit from 2-128. The cells towards the end of the block are yet to hold a number.

The cells themselves, generous in size, usually contain what could easily be described as a standard bedsit, with a double bed, desk, and digital billboard being the standard protocol for furnishing. Each room, however, is specifically personalised to suit its inhabitant; moodlights are common, as are water features and radio systems. This is an area of rest, and so The IOS aims to pacify its abnormal community.

  • //Atrium

The main exit of the bio-storage leads out into a multi-level, grand atrium; high-maintained and in pristine condition. The open roof can be closed remotely, and the ground is paved with stones and accented with greenery. Several seating areas are strewn across the balconies, and a computer-controlled cafe is built into the eastern wall. The atrium serves as a lobby to access recreational and care facilities, including three separate gyms, several shared bathrooms, and the rarely-used auditorium. Most Children are allowed to freely roam the atrium during the day.

  • //Auditorium

A modest yet crystal clean auditorium, able to seat 300 guests. Larger groups of Children are rarely summoned here for rallying and debriefing, addressed from a stage with a reinforced glass shield between them. The auditorium has also been used for guest lectures, as well as employee debriefs.
