Physiology

  • The Vulnix have many shared traits between them, from their vulpine appearances to the feathers in their fur, but there are varying degrees because of class and gender. These will be broken down in first shared traits, then class traits, and, finally, gender traits.

    EYES

A hybrid of fox/avian, resulting in spectacular diurnal and nocturnal vision. Not only can they see well in various lighting, they are especially sharp at noticing colors and fine detail. Bright colors are typically seen, such as, blue, green, red, gold, violet, pink, and yellow.

    HAIR
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Worn in tribal fashion, with braids and beads to decorate, also to secure gifted plumage into place. There are varying colors, tend to dictate to typical fox and avian colors, ranging from mundane to the most colorful of tresses. They also have a nest of feathers growing at the nape of the neck and some have feathers that grow throughout their locks.

    TAILS
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Maybe the most unique thing about this odd little species. Color and plumage display born class/gender. Fox-like tails with a cover of trailing feathers. The fur takes on the base coat of their fur. The feathery part of the appendage can have phoenix plumes or a peacock train in appearance. Fox portion of tail ranges from one to three tails.

    FUR
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
A plush down covers their forms, mimicking once again the natural vulpine. Soft if taken care of, it can become coarse without proper grooming. Color can be similar to existing fox species, however most base coats are defined by the tribe of origin. While not heavy with markings, they have undercoats and "glove" and "boot" markings. Mask markings are also common. Fox-like patterns are to be referenced.

    EARS
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
With the auds of a fox, their hearing is rather above average, making them excellent for hunting and/or eavesdropping. The shapes and sizes are not at all limited. The different species of vulpine are present enough to show it in the different shapes and sizes of their ears.

    ACCENTS
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
This pertains to other feather placement aside from hair and tail. Around the wrists and ankles are most common, but some have been known to have "manes" of feathers around their necks. Others get accented feathers on their elbows, shoulders, or even down their spine.

    LIFESPAN
    ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
They age rather normally, what one could compare to a "human" lifespan until they are able to use their rebirth ability, around 18-20 years old. If one dies before this, they are not reborn. They age slowly over each life cycle. They can do this twice, having a lifespan of 300 years, give or take. If they die before this, their clock starts over in this rebirth. When one is reborn, they are reborn to their age of which the ability became active. It is during the final half of their last cycle that they begin to show signs of maturity.

    TRIBES

Long ago, the vulnix lived as one large group. However, ideals changed and there was a conflict that lead to a divide. Because of that, there are now varying features among the three tribes.

    Kun'ei
Fur - Usually in creams and pastel colors. They are marked with whites or other colors of the rainbow. Very vibrant and eye-catching.

Hair - Again, pastel or darker hues of more vibrant colors.

Feathers - Very similar to that of tropical birds, females having more than a few colors in their feathers and males, while colorful, only have a few colors to their plumage.

Tails - Being a more magical based tribe, they seemed to have developed multiple tails, up to three, similar to that of kitsune.

    Kel'ai
Fur - Natural earth tones are common. Various shades of earthy reds and yellows, gold also common.

Hair - Natural colors, even white, can be found here. Typically brown, blonde, natural red, etc. Male wear their hair long, often in braids, and do not cut it until they lose a battle.

Feathers - Typical plumage mimics that of eagles/falcons, some even ranging to brighter colors, found among phoenix.

Wings - While not all Kel’ai have wings, it is the most common among this tribe. They are capable of flight. Some believe that all vulnix had wings at one time, but because the Kel’ai still travel, they’ve been the ones to use their wings most so didn’t lose the feature.

    Mu'nai
Fur - Darker tones, black is common. Some brighter traits have been found because of their breeding with those they take from other tribes.

Hair - Such as their fur, commonly dark but due to how their mating works, the shades of the other tribes have been known to pop up.

Feathers - Plumage ranges from very harsh coloring, violent reds is most common, though others have been known to have varying darker and harsher shades of those of the other tribes.

Feet - Due to their more raptor-like nature, they have sharp talons and more raptor-styled feet. The appearance appears like a combination of fox and dragon feet, less so bird.

Wings - (Rare) This is due to mating with the Kel’ai women. It is a rare feature and pops up in varying generations. If one parent has wings, there is a slight chance the child will. If both parents have wings, the chances are higher, but not guaranteed.
