The tavern is no longer able to serve cooked food after dark due to the tavern's cook, Ruthie, needing to be at the herbivore camp in time for curfew - which has become earlier in the day now that winter has firmly settled in and she doesn't return until shortly after sun-up.
Also, due to a lack of supplies coming through from any trade routes or paths due to both the political restrictions and the almost dangerous weather conditions - and despite the generous locals offering and supplying the tavern with what they manage to hunt - the tavern is slowly beginning to run short of certain things, resulting in once reasonable prices beginning to increase. It's probably only a matter of time before prices begin to reach unreasonable highs.
Because of supplies running low Bud has begun to restrict anyone not a member of staff at the tavern from entering the door that gives entrance to the tavern's basement stock room. If anyone unpermitted so much as approaches the door it seems to spark a temper in the bear that no one knew he had and he'll forsake orders to keep a close eye on you. Do you dare to anger the big bear and attempt to enter the stock room?

Already being involved in the possible renovation of the tavern basement for purposes of infirmary-making, and having rather little to do with herself while the roads are closed and merchanting is difficult, Tara has offered to help out in the kitchen some, mostly in seeing to it that what's used gets stretched creatively, and that plenty of things that are good cold get made during the day. Whether the offer is accepted, on the other hand...
While the offered help would certainly be met with much thanks Tara would find the tavern staff weirdly protective over their kitchen, even though the femme has good intentions. Ruthie would refuse to let her touch anything within the kitchen or help out in any way, though suggestions of how to stretch out supplies would be taken in quietly but seriously. Calliste's own explaination for the protectiveness of the kitchen would be that the fire that caused so much distruction a few months back started within the tavern's kitchen and so extra caution would take place, which likely explains why the kitchen is no longer attached to the tavern itself.
