Well tonight I had the scare of my life.
Pretty much everyone knows I have a child. We went to a cookout at my dad's and she felt a bit warm, took her temp and it was 102.7. Naturally we leave after being told by my nurse step mom that that temp wasnt hospital worthy.
We get home and my daughter is completely limp, staring off into space, unresponsive and drooling. We immediately call an ambulance while lowering her temp with cold wet cloths. I'm freaking out, having a mental fucking breakdown and the emts are giving me lip for cooling her down. What was I supposed to do, leave her like that?!
Anyhow we get to the children's hospital and they're all blasé about it. I guess a ceizure wasn't "medically threatening" and it was caused by rapid temperature changes in the body; which was caused by a mix of teething and an ear infection.
Then finally we get home and my mother-in-law forces medicine down her that she promptly throws up all over me- after I told her that my daughter was gagging just by a tiny bit I had given her. She had taken Ximi out of my arms to forcefully give her the medicine then wondered why I was pissed off at her.
Now its two in the morning, my little one is sleeping and safe and I'm still up, freaking out :

Omg. As a mother I know how hard it can be seeing your little one sick but that... I'd have FLIPPED my shit. I am so glad she is ok! How old is she? I have a 7 yo and a 3 yo.
If my mother-in-law did that she would be in an ambulance her damn self. You don't snatch a child from thier mother especially in that situation and when you had already told her no. ):

I've felt like death for the last few days and I had a temp of 103.5. I'm a fully grown adult. You can't tell me that a child with a temp of 102.7 isn't hospital worthy. Children can get deathly fucking sick from that shit.
I am terribly sorry about all of the stuff that has happened to follow. your M-I-L needs to keep herself in her fucking lane and chill the fuck out. She has no fucking right stepping over you and doing that to your child.

I don't have kids, but I can understand that's pretty scary. My mom was an emt for a while and can tell you herself however, that any fever 102 and above is not a good sign, and you should ALWAYS take them to the ER, a fever that high can cause brain damage.
Jade, she's one and a half. Yeah, my MIN is lucky she's not sporting a black eye.. I know she was just trying to help but you dont take someone's child from them.
Boro, it was partically my fault for believing my step mom, who told me if it didn't get up to 105 then there was no point taking her to a hospital. It was my fuck up listening to her because she was a nurse. To which I've been beating myself up over all night/morning.
Silby, it was terrfying. It's like.. now I have to be touching her all the time to make sure she's okay..
Nerissa, we were going to take her to the hospital regardless after leaving my dad's, we just didn't know it was as bad as it was because of ignorantly listening to my step mom. We thought we had time so we went home first to get necessary hospital gear to which then left our minds as soon as we saw how she was. I was in the back of the squad unit barefoot..

I'm surprised, honestly, that the hospital let you guys just go like that. A child that young.. But I am really glad she's okay. I understand the whole having to be at her side like 24/7 thing; I'd been told I couldn't have kids and when my first son was born I literally sat by his side ALL the time. I woke up every hour on THE DOT to watch his chest to make sure he was still breathing for a YEAR. I didn't even let anyone babysit him for the first two years of his life. I was really overprotective. He not once left my side until he was about 2 and a half. I was soooo afraid something horrible was going to happen, that I didn't deserve this absolutely amazing gift. He's 7 now and just as nerdy as me.
i'msoproud.
Do you have any follow up doctors appointments for her? I would TOTALLY make one... or two...

I don't have kids, but I went through the exact same thing once when I was at a friend's house and her baby was sick. I was freaking out and I didn't know what to do, but the medics told us that I guess it's really common for babies to have seizures if their temperature gets too high too fast?
Anyway, it was one of the worst things I've ever had to go through, so I'm sorry you had to go through it too. I hope Ximi's okay and that this doesn't happen again.

That's terrifying! I hope you and the little one will both be okay!
