When it comes to Charlie Kirk, I agree with the other Kirk, not Jim Kirk, but Kirk Bangstad. he said it well on a couple entries on his blog...
Kirk Bangstad wrote:
"Hi folks,

Kirk here from the Minocqua Brewing Company. I had a draft already written for today’s post, but I threw it out because I wanted to write about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Here goes…

Every time a kid got killed over the last 20 years in school shooting, my heart broke a little.

Every time I heard the twisted lie that guns weren’t the problem by every right-wing talking head immediately after a school shooting, my broken heart hardened a little.

When it comes to finding empathy for a guy whose purported mission was to manipulate our kids to embrace hate, along with teaching them to double down on gun-lust after every mass shooting, I simply don’t have it.

My heart is hard for men like Charlie Kirk simply because I spend all my empathetic reserves trying to keep it soft for folks who are hurting because of men like Charlie Kirk.

So Fuck Charlie Kirk. Thoughts and prayers. Fix our guns laws DESPITE the fact that he wanted them broken. He didn’t deserve to die, just like all those kids didn’t deserve to die. Time to move on. His assassination is only worth about 6 sentences of my time.

I choose to spend my energy fighting for an America where men like Charlie Kirk are pushed back into their basements because Christian nationalistic bigotry is no longer socially acceptable."

With this 'Nuremburg'-style rally going on in Glendale Arizona today (Sunday the 21st of September 2025), it saddens me that so much hate has welled up from under the surface, mainly due to the fact that a black man, Barack Obama, won the presidency in 2008. And won it again in 2012 despite the growing racist opposition wrapped in American evangelical "christianity" and labeled with a pro-revolutionary tag; 'The Tea Party'.

Again, the other Kirk ... Kirk Bangstad ... had done some hard yards in compiling this list with sources of what Charlie Kirk espoused (I cleaned up the note links and verified they work... I need a shower after that exercise) When you see someone celebrating this man, then by doing so, they support what he and his Turning Point stands for.

"Nobody deserves to be assassinated, but make no mistake, Charlie Kirk was a bad human and caused a lot of suffering through his rhetoric, and this guy deserves absolutely zero words of praise.

He lived and died by his own violent beliefs, and those beliefs were absolutely backwards, wrong, and dangerous.
Here’s a litany of real sources that remind you of his dangerous and violent rhetoric."

  • Network Contagion Research Institute documents Kirk's systematic provision of mainstream legitimacy to white nationalist figures\^40

The fact such a person is being celebrated by so many is sickening. Trump and the far right wanted it to be some disgruntled 'leftie' who was the assassin, even making claims to that effect for a couple days. Turned out the guy responsible did it because Charlie Kirk wasn't "right enough". The fact people are losing their jobs for saying anything negative about Charlie Kirk showcases how far down the slide into authoritarian white racist American evangelical fascism has already gone in the last nine months. Anyone thinking that the 2026 elections will 'fix' this, ... well, I wish I had your hope.
