  • Rayneth! - Crazy mammals and whatnot!!!

    Dear diary! I would say if you had any sentience! I'm only writing this down to reread it myself so I say.
    
    Dear future Korvus!
    
    Perfect! Now what is it I want to write down for my, probably, fantastic future self? Well Rayneth! I've recently come back to Rayneth after visiting the old homeland again! Eriu is nice enough, even if my old coop was so dusty it took me hours to clean! Bad luck again, my enchanted broom had flung itself out of the window.
    But that is not today's subject, or well I suppose the subject of when I decide to reread this again...
    
    Rayneth Kingdom! At least that is how it used to be known. I've flown by here sometime in the past, didn't stay for very long but seemed a nice enough place. There was one mad man who seemed to know everything about me, and an aquatic elf! I wanted to ask that elf a few questions but, poor luck, I didn't get to it.
    
    Well now, I've returned to Rayneth and, fortune's beak, The place has been conquered by the Ovkan Empire! I knew that empire was bad news! Apparently the drow princess that ruled here got slain and a new regent has been put in place. Bad luck for them, good luck for the empire! Not sure what luck for the townfolk themselves...
    
    Well lots of things have changed. Apparently some ermine got appointed grand inquisitor and has been killing heretics left and right! Perhaps they don't know that weasely folk tend to have a nasty violent streak! Unless that is the entire idea... well. I've been lucky enough to only have seen the inquisitor in passing so far. There's also a Wizard's Tower now and so I decided to look into it, offer my own services as a great and powerful luck wizard. Of course I have little choice, from what I've learned the overseer and these spellrender people, probably as bad news as the inquisition, won't be very pleased to know there's rogue wizards with my elusive skills about! I was not feeling lucky enough to avoid them.
    
    So I winged over there, all fine and dandy, expecting at least some respect for wizardy folk. The first thing I did was visit the study. Not sure if I was allowed to look into their library but nothing said I couldn't and besides, I had to wait until I could visit the overseer so I needed something to occupy my time with and I was also feeling especially lucky. I should've flown away the moment I pulled that boring as cloaca book out of the shelve...
    
    The absolutely creepiest human I've ever seen suddenly appeared! He had glass eyes! Of course I know the correct term is goggles, but the way he wore them made them almost seem like they were his eyes, like they belonged there! Well so that was a bad card already. At least he ignored me, not that it helped my nerves much. Well I tried to focus on my absolutley rivetting book again, I've conveniently forgotten the name, but just as I was able to put that creepy human out of my mind... Another appeared!
    
    Well in fact I'm not certain if this one was a human! He had a blindfold in front of his eyes and was tapping and scratching at the window! The shrieks were almost too much to bear! But I bore it, I was certain this would also annoy creepy human number two (or one if we are going to count them chronologically) and at last, my luck played out! The creepy man with the goggles turned around and threw some flask to the window, it exploded upon impact and sent the other one falling to the ground. I'm going to assume the flask contained some alchemical sollution.
    
    As convenient as this was I decided not to stay in a room with this alchemist who possibly murdered someone in cold blood. I excused myself (the human didn't even respond) and decided to just wait in the common room for my appointment.
    
    Now things were going pretty sour right there already. Luck was having a ball with me and it didn't turn much better. I went to have my appointment with the overseer, who was very clearly a fire mage the moment I saw her! Well I had asked around about her already, but even if I hadn't known, that room was as hot as the desert itself I reckon! She also had a darker shade of skin, humans with such skintones usually seem to come from warmer climates.
    
    Well the overseer was not the worst person to talk to... at first. She seemed reasonable enough and even asked for a demonstration of my luck magic. I felt obliged to comply! I was wanting to try out my roulette spell for a while then, and this was a perfect moment to do so.
    
    So we went to their practice room, it was decent, and I used the roulette spell. That it when I learned the overseer was not as friendly as I thought she might be! I was filled with bravery this time around and the overseer challenged me to a duel. Lacking fear I accepted, foolish me, and so we fought for a little while!
    
    Now my luck was FINALLY turning around. She never hit me once, which was convenient, fire isn't kind to feathers and I would not want to lose the ability to fly in this town. WHen the bravery spell ended I also ended the fight, and at least the overseer complied... Before punching me!
    Well she broke no bones at least, and I managed to get away after that, I've never felt happier to see my nest.
    
    Conclusions!: Rayneth is filled with crazy mammals! One has to be lucky to survive here! So if I'm reading this again in the future... going strong Korvus!
