Let's Say between Degu, Rook and Rigby (Sandro)

>
Degu — 07/07/2021
So he goes to the house.

Rook — 07/07/2021
trying to find a good map for the area, but i dont think we have any with all the places (afaik). it seems barely lived in, but he doesnt exactly have much need to keep things. there's heavily salted meat, but likely useless at this point. bloodwyne, but those seem untouched for the most part.

his personal room, however, has papers upon papers of various sigils, a list of various plants from the local forests and a couple sheets talking of different 'formulas'. they dont seem to signify much. there's really 'old' blood on the dresser, the papers, one section of the floor where it seemed something had been written before. his blood if investigated.

there's a map, however, that has the trade routes around the majority of the island (and some of the seas) drawn on by hand.

Degu — 07/07/2021
Alright so he'll probably collect the papers to take to Steeplestone Academy to be assessed by a head wizard for some kind of explanation as to what they are.

But regarding the map he'll probably suspect banditry/robbery activities...which he hadn't considered before. I expect he'd share these developments with both Aeson and Sandro

Is it possible to make out what was written in blood or is it another sigil?

Rook — 07/07/2021
okay! the wizard/s will likely eventually mention they seem akin to seals - as if he's trying to bind something

it would have sigils! and what was almost a ritual circle

Degu — 07/07/2021
if he copied it down on paper as best he can would the wizards be able to decipher what the circle was being used for? or specifically what it was binding?

Rook — 07/07/2021
they'll be unsure, but they'll know it's something related to darker magic

Degu — 07/07/2021
uh oh!

Rook — 07/07/2021
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/9e/5f/36/9e5f36cfeea1e15a5adb48688fe2423d.jpg one is a stylized version of this

Degu — 07/07/2021
Ok though umm not sure where to take it from there other than have people check the trade routes for caravans that have been attacked, maybe check with trade logs to see if any shipments failed to arrive recently (since Tom disappeared)

Rook — 07/07/2021
nothing missing! there is mention of a well-known carriage heading down a certain route, likely suspected to be going to the more inviting towns, but still offering wares along the way

Degu — 07/08/2021
Oh had one other question sorry, were there any pale hairs around the house if Harpur went looking?

Rook — 07/08/2021
Yes! There'd be a brush carelessly dumped in the bathroom, but with separate dark and red strands

Degu — 07/08/2021
so no pale hairs?

Also Is Tomm red haired? soz I forget

Rook — 07/08/2021
I meant, also alongside the dark + red hairs! Tommaso is dark haired like Cienna, but it's a little shorter

Degu — 07/08/2021
Ohh ok! So maybe the girl from the market was there

Rigby — 07/11/2021
Harpur investigates to the extent of his reach, and it's now Sandro and the Faewatch's turn.

- IF THE COURT GUARD IS COOPERATIVE (Sandro figures when it comes to Lost Kids and political tightropes, he's banking on their being so), he'd meet them where the trade routes intersect with the magical/mundane borders, and ask if they'd seen anything unusual.

---

Should the sigil Harpur found make it back to Aiolfi in the interim, Enrica would copy it down and look into it on her own. She's not of the Faewatch, not enrolled in Steeplestone, or any maggiore di Aiolfi, but she's very stubborn when it comes to poking around where other mundies don't always feel comfortable poking, especially with Aiolfi loot resources on-hand.

*Snooping, Enrica, it's called snooping."

Rook — 07/11/2021
sandro went out along the trade route? i'm assuming there's a bit of distance between TM (point a) and the border (point B)?

Rigby — 07/18/2021
Sandro went out along the route and I'm a dope for thinking it wasn't my turn! :X Unsure about the border question, double-checking with the other folks?

Rook — 07/18/2021
i'll assume there's a bit of a distance! sandro's venturing out would eventually found the carriage, in bad shape and abandoned in the forests - clearly knocked off course by a spooked horse that decided to pull the other one with it. a broken wheel is likely what kept it there, because one of the horses has left.

the other was eaten, but there are heavy signs of blood inside and around said carriage. some living, some dead (as far as sources go). there are no dog tracks, but clawed tracks leading away from the mess while the horse notably took off in a hurried pace down the road before veering off into the woods.

there'd be drops of blood along the way, but those too fade off

Rigby — 07/21/2021
OKAY! And also...oh dear. Well clearly that part doesn't look good. He and his people will track the claws and the blood as far as they could go. Probably wishes he did have a court guard member along to sniff or investigate that blood but his gang is excellent at Mundane Tracking. Blood is followed until the end, claws are followed, this is an angry and frustrated dad. Anything more at the end of the tracks? Silly human senses only go so far

Rook — 07/22/2021
it just trails off until they lead to another road! it's likely they're going off to other villages, ones for more inhuman folks. one is close, likely, but it's a smaller one

Rigby — 07/24/2021
There's the option of going back, probably getting more of an inhuman company. Preparing would probably be sensible, as would probably getting some of the court guard to back him up so he wasn't a human wandering into a nest of monsters. But he's quietly seething, more emotion than sense right now, and it's only training that really keeps him from flying off the handle. If there seems even the slightest chance that he could afford it, he would regroup...but right now he and his company would scope what he can of the little village.

Rook — 07/24/2021
The village, atleast, was friendly enough. likely wary of this official looking entourage. it seemed what one would really expect: it had basic buildings, a little market and a couple houses here and there. the tavern had an extended inn, likely for people passing by, and stables.

some people would see if they were coming to trade goods or if they needed help with anything. a few were clearly inhuman, but some still appeared 'normal'

Rigby — 08/01/2021
Sandro might begin subtle but that quickly drops off; while his initial questions are more to the tune of - have you seen anyone matching the descriptions of Tomm, of Jack, of this girl...he can't be general when it comes to Tomm for long, and while he can't bank on the inhuman folks knowing of or holding those families in the same esteem, it's pretty clear who it is for those In The Know.

Rook — 08/02/2021
Q1) yes! they both came at night, but barely talked. the younger one (tomm) looked pale, they had their dog patched up and got another carriage. instead of staying anywhere during the night, they were more active then and took refuge inside said carriage during the day. no girl, mentioned

most of the people dont seem very keen on answering

the longer sandro searches, the more he sees a familiar, yet long gone, presence just in the corner of his eye. the apparition would appear blood-stained at times, or forlorn during others

Rigby — 08/02/2021
Tomm looking pale is a tidbit that sticks in his mind horribly in light of the rest of the news. Even the best case scenario still frightened him. One more round of questions - largely, anyone see where the carriage went?

And then he sees it.

He’d been having a good day; if there’d been any indication that his brain was about to betray him once more, he’d not been feeling anything coming on. But the vision would’ve been enough to slice through a grief-addled mind alone.

It’s enough to stop him dead in his tracks at first, whirl around, catching himself just before calling out his name.

Eventually it’s a spurt of madness or desperation, played off like his going off after another witness, and attempts to follow the apparition.

“I know what you’re doing” is a loud, directionless growl - but one that still impossibly dares hope.

Rook — 08/02/2021
the ever helpful folks would just point to another path, but mention they could be going anywhere. there's a few cabins here and there, likely used in the same way as the hunters - borrowed for trips.

the apparition, likely to his irritation, would always be at the corner of his eye. if sandro stopped a ways away from the center of the town, it'd vanish altogether.

Sandro — 08/03/2021
He’s refusing to accept the trail is growing cold, but the apparition is pulling his focus and scrambling some judgment.

If some of his company have to camp in the cabins for rest then that’s what would be necessary. With every night, the vampire - or vampires - would put further distance between themselves and the towns.

It’s a directive given…before he splits from the group, chasing the apparition and pretending he isn’t. When it vanishes, he does let fly with a growl that to his credit doesn’t yet become a roar, before his steps slow into a stagger and he leans on the nearest wall, pressing fingers to one temple, expression turned inward despite his squinting down the road from where he came.

“Why are you doing this,” is low - it could be to the apparition, it could be to any masters it may have within earshot. It could be to himself. “Why do I keep doing this,” is definitely low, and seemingly only to himself. It would be a moment of this weird reflection, before he would turn to head back once more.

Rook — 08/04/2021
Likely to Sandro's relief, the apparition wouldn't return. But, the townsfolk had watched him with concern. A hallucination, perhaps? What else could have caused this Nobleman to react so? A couple of them weren't so concerned about approaching, despite Sandro's title.

"Are you alright?"

Rigby — 08/08/2021
The worst part of that question is, he doesn't know. But it's not like he can say that, only opting for vague things along the lines of "saw something..." while still trying to keep somewhat of a brave face on and appreciating their concern in spite of it.

He still keeps looking around, sneaking peeks over his shoulder, eyes flicking to shadows anyway.

Rook — 08/08/2021
The townsfolk would nod to his comment, but otherwise left him alone, unless he asked more questions. Nothing else would appear, as if to really hammer home that maybe it was all in his head.

Rigby — 08/14/2021
He would look, anyway, and pretend e wouldn't. On his return to his group, a few might be quietly worried - a very scant few know of the physical issues and that all-too-mundane invader that had slipped into his head, but everyone knew what he had lost, and few would challenge the madness and unpredictability of grief. The supernatural invader would have an easy cover with this man. Why doesn't he come back with them, they can regroup with what they know.

And after a very reluctant, heartrending, very long moment...he agrees.
