You may remember it from my knitting thread in the public forums. I'm finally getting around to finishing it. Just the strap is left, knitted in 1x1 rib. I placed a marker for the approximate halfway point. Not sure yet how long I want it to be, but it has to be at least twice what I have so far in order to be worn comfortably. :)

That varigated yarn there has turned out super pretty! Like a bright sky with a few wisps of clouds. :3
'Tis indeed lovely. :)
Thanks guys! 60% done with the strap. :)

The yarn is self-striping, not variegated. Difference is that variegated changes color so rapidly that you don't get a self-striping design. I'm considering making another bag with variegated yarn though!
I'm dead tired but I finished the bag. The yarn conveniently patterened itself to match the other end of the strap, so the colors even look even!

I had a lot of fun with this. :)

This looks really awesome. Was it hard to make?
That's lovely. :) I don't think I could trust yarn to hold all the junk I tend to carry around, but your bag is quite pretty. ^^
It was a little challenging for me in some areas. The pattern tells you to knit a flat stockinette piece, 40 stitches wide, 25 rows tall. Then you have to start picking up stitches and knit them to get a total of 136 stitches in the round on your needle. That was the hardest part for me because I'd never done it before.

The mesh pattern is pretty easy. Just a constant repeat of these two rows:

Row 1: yo, k2tog
Row 2: knit

Until you repeated it 25 times (50 rows total). Then I was just ribbing. :)

I was comfortable enough with my regular knitting that I felt I could take this on. This is like above average beginner level really.
I'll keep that in mind once I get past book marks.

I was skeptical too, but honestly? It depends on how you knit it and how secure your woven in ends are. I put three glass bottles (70ml-1 liter each), at least 3/4th filled up, and it held up incredibly well. I trust this bag more than I trust plastic bags. The way it's knitted makes the strands twist tightly around each other, and when they stretch out they just get stronger. It's stretchy but doesn't over stretch, if that makes sense?

In any case, I'll likely just be using it to carry my knitting projects around with me. :)
Happily reporting that I book the bag out for a test drive to the supermarket today and it held up quite well! Put at least several pounds worth of stuff in it (about 4?) and it didn't break or show any signs of breaking at some point. :)
