Vapor was the only one who stood between the two and the door, the bear had caught him off guard when it suddenly charged the door, throwing Vapor to the side, bruising him, but not anything lethal.
Aeon held the spear, unsure whether to pursue the two trying to flee or let them be. He glanced at Vera and Mortimus in an attempt to get some answer for his internal question. He held the spear at the ready, but was also willing to let the two go, he'd let Vera and Mortimus make that decision whether to make chase.

Mortimus relaxed, only watching as the other two get away. Vera sighed out, meeting Aeon's gaze for a moment and shaking her head, giving her silent answer to him.
Aeon let out a sigh of relief. He was holding his injured shoulder as Vapor sulked over to Aeon, tending his own wounds. "Gah, that was... rough to say the least..." Aeon said, looking at Vera and Mortimus.
"At least they ran off... Hope we don't see them again." He finished, moving over to one of the tables that had been knocked over. He picked up a small box, opening it and pulling out something of a bandage roll, or a roll of gauze tape as some called it.

"Tell me about it, I thought I was a goner to be honest." Vera let out a long winded sigh, slumping into one of the chairs. She winced from the pain on from the cut she got on her wrist.
Mortimus sat down on his rear end, tail waving back and forth. The claw marks on his shoulder had already begun to heal. "Too close for comfort." He agreed.
Vera just stared into space for a little while before blinking, eyes widening in realization. "Ah geez, what am I gonna tell my pops 'bout this?" She raised her wrist, showing off the large cut on it. "He's definitely not gonna believe I fell down or somethin'."
"I concur. Your father's deductive reasoning is rather impressive." Mortimus remarked.
The teen frowned. "You know, you could at least try and help me figure out a way to avoid my dad."

Vapor let out a mix of a sigh and a whimper like a dog would. "Surely I hope that nothing like this happens again. Mayhaps we should meet back regularly to assure that no one is hurt or in grave danger. Also maybe so Aeon can meet Enri and Amanita." Vapor said. Aeon was bandaging his shoulder, nodding in agreement.
"Well we could at least put a bandage over that gash. It's not concealed, but it's better than walking around with a bloody wound." He offered the roll of bandages once he was finished.
"Don't know about your father though. Maybe you were 'mugged' on your way home? Just an idea." Aeon finished with a brief sigh.

"I would certainly hope so as well. But the pinch of the game has not yet arrived, believe it or not. We managed this time, but be what it would, we must still stay on our guard." Mortimus stated and pawed at the floor.
She accepted the roll of bandages, and then proceeded to wrap it around her injured wrist. When she was finished, she handed it back to Aeon. "Dude, that's even worse than the falling idea. My dad's a detective. He works for the police. I think that equation pretty much sums up everything for you." Vera sighed out, thinking it over for a moment. Then she looked to Mortimus.
"Hey, Morty, help me sneak into my room?" She said.
The Revenant hummed slightly, giving a slow nod. "Certainly."
"Awesome."

"A detective? I was not aware of that... on second thought yeah, our ideas are out the window." Aeon said, taking the bandages back, putting them back in the box he had taken it out of.
Vapor had jumped back to the loft, circling in place before laying down by the edge. "Well if you must be on your way home so soon, maybe we could accompany you two? Safety in numbers and the streets aren't the safest place to be at night." Vapor said, it was just an offer, he didn't care what response the two would give.
"Vapor, if her dad works for the police that could jeopardize my... well I could be forced to go to school. And I have neither the time nor the patience for that and not to mention I still have to run this place and make some cash for food and other things." Aeon said in response to Vapor's offer. Of all the things he had been through, school was one of the things he didn't want to experience.

Listening to him, she blinked, a small smile appearing on her face. She shifted slightly in her seat. "Huh, I guess that's why I never see you around in the halls." She muttered. "But I don't think anyone will try and jump us when we're on our way home. I just gotta be careful about bringing this 'ol thing around." As she said, she held up the rapier, then promptly sheathed it.
"Whenever you deem yourself prepared to depart," Mortimus said.
At that moment, Vera instantly sat up in the chair in realization. "Oh wait! I almost forgot!" She reached into her pocket, digging around in there for a moment or so before handing off a hundred dollar bill to Aeon. "Sorry, almost dying back there almost made me forget that I still had to pay for the sick sword you made me."

Aeon accepted the cash with a nod. "Well thanks for remembering, I nearly forgot myself. And you can stay as long as you need. I'm not expecting anymore guests and I think I have enough cash to afford not being out in public for a week. Someone called Callie came by earlier and spent a thousand dollars on the various knick knacks and things I have other than weapons."
Vapor nodded, "Indeed, as long as you needn't be somewhere soon, stay and rest up. And now with a good sum of cash we don't need to leave here more than once a week. That is, you will find us here if anything comes up. We will always welcome you, and our other allies. Tell that to Enri and Amanita if you see them again soon." Vapor mused, remembering the shrieking of the cat Revenant he had met earlier that same day.

She nodded. "Oh, cool. I think I'll do just that." Vera said, sliding back a little more into the chair and fell silent for a little while, just appreciating the peace and quiet.
Mortimus laid down and curled up into a circle.
Finally, Vera shifted slightly. "....Yeah, okay. I need some conversation to happen." After thinking for a moment, she looked over at Aeon. "How old are you, anyway? You're pretty short, you know?"
Classic Vera, always so blunt with it sometimes.

Aeon let out a laugh, he hadn't been asked that question often, but always found it somehow funny when people brought up his age and height. "I'm fifteen. And yes, I am short for my height, its just something I've dealt with all my life." He had moved to the loft, sitting down with his legs hanging off the edge, Vapor curled up next to him. "And you? How old are you? I'm guessing older than me, but I've been wrong before."
Vapor gave a look at Mortimus from the loft, pondering something before speaking, "Mortimus, What do you remember of your past life? Occupation? Family? Anything really, I'm curious to see what kind of person you were before this... all happened."

"Whoa. You're fifteen? That's cool." Vera smiled a bit. "I'm seventeen. But you're definitely a lot more accomplished than I am."
Mortimus lifted his head up as he was addressed. For a moment, he was silent, he thought about it. "Hmm.... I am only able to recollect that I lived in the nineteenth century. The other details have escaped me."

"Accomplished? Thanks, I've never really thought of it that way, I just like helping others! And I was always good at making things so I turned it into a way of living." He smiled in return.
Vapor gave a nod, "I see, nineteenth century... I recall living around that time too. Although, I do remember I was, oddly, a baker. Nothing more." Aeon gave a snicker at the thought of Vapor being a baker. Vapor rolled his eyes at Aeon's snickering.

Vera couldn't help but laugh. "Ah man, and you're friggin' adorable too, you know that?" She remarked.
Mortimus waved his tail back and forth, intrigued by this newfound information. "A baker? Curious...."
"Ha! Hey Vapor, why don't you bake us some cookies or somethin'?" The green haired teen burst into a fit of snickers. She was obviously getting a kick out of this.

Vapor let out a snarl at the remarks, "And to think I let you know that willingly... Hmph, I may not tell you everything if I do recall more." Aeon moved, scratching Vapor behind the ears, like you would a dog, Vapor seemed to lighten up, tail starting to wag.
"Aww come on, I see you still are sorta like a wolf-dog fox thing... Hehe. Maybe you had some experiences with wolves or dogs, or even foxes. That may be why you are what you are right now. Or it was just chance, either way." Aeon said, smiling.

Vera couldn't help but laugh at the two. "Aww, I promise I won't laugh at you anymore Vapor. Bakers are pretty damn cool in my book." The comment that Aeon made had her thinking for a few moments. Then she blinked, looking over Mortimus as if they had just met.
"Wait a sec. What the hell is Morty anyway? Some sort of deer, wolf....lion?" She squinted at her Revenant partner, trying to decipher this mystery.
"Wait a sec. What the hell is Morty anyway? Some sort of deer, wolf....lion?" She squinted at her Revenant partner, trying to decipher this mystery.
"Deer skull, lion mane... uh... deer body? or maybe a wolf body? Looks like a lion tail... Now that I look at him he looks odd. Cool, but odd." Aeon remarked, looking Mortimus over. Vapor did the same curious, he didn't know the reason for his form or the other Revenants, he just knew that all other Revenants had taken the form of an animal or a mix of animals.
"Yeah, he looks sort of freaky, but it's a cool sort of freaky. But he acts like a dog. He even likes tummy rubs!" Vera said, smirking a bit.
Mortimus laid his head down, putting his claws over his skeletal snout. "Crawfield, I specifially told you to refrain from mentioning that to others."
Despite his protests, Vera only ignored him, continuing. "Yeah, it's his only weakness. He freezes up when he gets rubbed on one specific spot, too."

"I see Vapor isn't the only one who acts like a dog at times." Aeon let out a laugh. "He tries to act tough like a wolf all the time, but he's just a big ball of fluff once you get past his tough shell." Aeon scratched Vapor's head, Vapor let out a bark out of habit.
"Aeon... Please stop." Vapor said, "I do not appreciate this... Especially in front of others." Vapor's tail obviously said otherwise, wagging like a dog's tail would.
"Oh hush, you enjoy it Vapor, stop fighting it," Aeon smiled, looking back to Vera. "I got a question actually, what's your family like? I know you said your father was a detective, but that's all you said. I'm just a bit curious is all."

She smiled, watching their exchange. It sort of reminded her of Mortimus and herself. Though she blinked once Aeon asked her a question, and for a moment, she hesitated for a moment. First she reached into her pocket, bringing out the pack of gum she always brought with her, took out a piece and unwrapped it, popping it into her mouth. She chewed for a moment.
"Well, I only got my dad. I'm actually adopted." Vera replied.
