The Atavitae are an open species based in a solarpunk world.
🧬 INFORMATION
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Homo chimaeras (chimera man)
COMMON NAME: Atavitae, Ark, Chimera, Splice, Grafter, Mutant
CONCEPTUAL: The Atavitae are a brand of near-future humans. After a worldwide series of natural disasters left most of the world's creatures all but extinct, humanity spliced the animal kingdom into a number of living arks. Each ark is a person, and each person contains the genomes of different animals in their tails.
ORIGINATION: The Atavitae were inspired by various media, including (but not limited to) 2012, Avatar, Brand New Animal, and Zootopia. By bringing therianthropes into a semi-futuristic world bordering utopia, it's meant to be a new take on an old classic.
AVAILABILITY: Atavitae can be created and written by anyone, which makes them a free-to-play open species! That said, we do have a few house rules when it comes to character creation...

🧬 MAIN PREMISE
Calamity struck humanity in one of its most literal of forms when a vicious solar flare smashed an odd meteor-like object the likes of which have never been observed into the planet. Speculated to be extraterrestrial in origin, its true nature came to light as a terraforming weapon.
Natural disasters became all the more prominent before escalating a global crisis altogether. Architects created a multitude of arks intended to preserve the genetically elite at the cost of everyone and everything else, and during the final wave of the apocalypse, several billion people perished.
Those days were the days of Old Earth. Mankind has since evolved into something greater in both body and spirit, but the new world of Neo Earth is far from at ease. Mild quakes and other disturbances are activating again, and while it's nothing humanity can't handle in its current state, people have begun to worry.
Will the new generations learn from the past? Where did the object from which the disasters originated go? Is there a way to stop a repeat of the apocalypse? Only they can say for sure and change the course of evolution.
