All that came from the radio was static, most likely due to the fact that no one would be monitoring the stations by now. Tanner sighed, knowing that it wouldn't work. What he didn't know, was that there was a little girl in trouble in the distance. Her scream was so loud, that everyone in the car would be able to hear it. Taking a much huger sigh, he knew that he had to help somehow.
"Unlock the door," he told her, pulling out his revolver.

Brooke gave an odd look to her friend when she was asked to open the door. Is this guy insane? The little girl scream worried her too, but it wasn't going to be the reason for her to leave the safety of her car.
"You crazy?! How're you going to protect yourself from those sick people?"
That's when Tanner pulled out the gun, causing the eyes of the girl to widen.

"Whoa," Brooke said, unlocking the door in the process of nearly panicking. "Okay, okay. Just put that away!"

Tanner did so, internally swearing at himself for not thinking of the reactions of his companions. It's not everyday that you see someone pull out a gun in front of you.
He exited the car and shut it behind him as the engine started up (controlling your OC a bit like you asked, mostly because we need to get a move on).
"I never got your name," he told her.

A sly smile formed on her lips. With the engine started, Brooke gave Tanner her parting words.
"I know," she responded. "I'll be going to the outskirts. Good luck, Tanner."
The Toyota revved up and sped down the empty street. Brooke felt glad that there were people like him out in the world, saving little girls and jumping into random stranger's cars.

With that, he headed to the source of the scream. Unfortunately, he came too late. The girl that made the scream was already being eaten alive by two Insurgents, which infuriated Tanner. He downed the two cannibals with three shots and reloaded his weapon.
Last clip, he thought to himself as more Insurgents appeared in the distance. The gunfire drew them over to Tanner's location, so he had no choice but to flee into the back alleys. Better make them count.
