Ryan smiled and looked at Brooke. She looked at her and the man and smiled before standing up. She had him to help her out now, so he looked at them one last time, then at the unconscious woman before walking out to find someone to help him with his gash.
(I am sneaking in a reply during a statewide test. Do not judge me whatsoever.)

Her uncontrollable sobbing continued as he consoles her, but her cries eventually subsided. Brooke looked at the boy with her tear-soaked face with a half-hearted smile.

"Thank you," she told him after rising to her feet. Her jaw ached from speaking and crying so much. Her hand throbbed from the pressure she put into squeezing her necklace. However emotional she considered herself to be, Brooke's stubbornness didn't waste any time to show itself.

"What happened in here stays between us. You got that, bub?"

Brooke spoke with a slightly harsh tone that she immediately regretted using. The kid looked so concerned about her, but that only angered her more.

Ugh, this is exactly why you're single, she told herself. Brooke's furious face softened and she even forced a smile to him.

"Sorry," she told him. "Can we just let my breakdown be a secret? Please?"
(Bad Beth! Bad!)

Alan couldn't help but let out a small laugh at how quickly the woman's demeanor had changed. He certainly didn't expect her to say what she did, but he found it amusing how she still tried to conserve some ounce of her dignity even though she had literally broken down in front of him just moments ago.

His friendly smile unwavering, he nodded in agreement. "Of course. You're secret's safe with me. My name's Alan by the way." he said warmly, extending his hand to her.
(Grrrrrrrrr)

Brooke took a moment to take a good long look at the boy. She never understood why girls her age were so attracted to guys, but just seeing the kindness of Alan made her have some sort of understanding as to why.

"Nice to meet you Alan," Brooke answered while shaking his hand. "I'm Brooke."

She had a lot of questions running through her brain right now, but her main priority didn't allow for time to play twenty questions. She could only ask one.

"My friend's seriously hurt," she told Alan, gesturing to Stazia for emphasis. "Do you guys know where we could find a hospital or something from here? We'll also need some gas to make the trip if you don't mind."
Alan put a hand to his chin in thought. He began to wonder if she was a local or just a visitor since she didn't know about the famous hospital of Tucson, Arizona.

"Well the nearest hospital is the Tucson Medical Center. I'm sure you'll be able to find some help there. There's also the University Medical Center, but it's much farther away, so I don't recommend it." he explained.

Taking the hand off of his chin and facing her, he continued. "As for the gas, I'm not sure. There might be a lot of abandoned cars in the city, so maybe you can siphon some gas from there? It's probably pretty dangerous to be in the city right now, though. Tucson's no doubt crawling with those things."
Brooke shook her head. The city was the last place she wanted to go to in the middle of the night.

"I really don't want to go anywhere while it's dark," Brooke begged. "I barely found this place. I don't want to get lost again."

Brooke genuinely looked scared for her life, but she would never admit her fear to him. She obviously wanted to stay here for the night.
Which was exactly what he planned to invite her to do, only not just for the night.

"You're welcome to stay here, if you want." Alan offered. "I'm sure my uncle won't mind some more people. We have food and guns, so it's not the worst place to be staying."
Katie led Tanner inside of her room and felt a bit embarrassed about all the company she had in here. She hoped that no one would discover her stash of chips she wisely hid.

"They're over here," Katie said. "Hey again, Alan."
Tanner entered to see a girl with some glass jammed into her forehead and another lying on what he assumed to be Katie's bed unconscious. One of the new faces was a girl that he recognized to be the one he met earlier today.

"Long time no see," he greeted. He walked over to Logan's body. He set the medical supplies down on the table and held her head still to observe the wound. He took care in avoiding the blood that already began drying up. He cursed internally for not arriving here sooner. "How'd this happen?"
(Logan is also unconscious)
The girl gave one of the most sincere smiles of her life. Never in her life would she expect a stranger to show this much hospitality.

Well I guess he isn't a stranger anymore, Brooke told herself. "I'd like that."

She hadn't really met this uncle. Her high hopes for a good impression changed to eagerness when the alluring man from before entered the room.Brooke chuckled. She hoped to meet him again, but she genuinely became bewildered that their reunion came so soon.

"Hey yourself," she told him after his suave greeting. "I don't know what happened to her. She must've gotten here around the time I did. I'm surprised to see you here."
(Oh, my bad GG.)

"Yeah, well that makes two of us."

Tanner released the grip he had on Logan's hands and turned to Alan and Brooke.

"I'll have to wash my hands first," he explained. "I prefer that we use proper tools, but we don't have that luxury. I'll have to pull those shards out myself."

Tanner's tone turned pessimistic during his explanation. Who could blame him? How could he lightheartedly explain the amount of pain this young girl would be going through? Not only that, but he knew that he needed at least one more person to really get this done right. If he did it by himself, he'd risk her losing too much blood.

"I'll need someone to come with me. I can't do this procedure alone or she'll risk a lot of blood loss."
Katie watched him and tried her best to keep her composure. Doctors usually made her feel uncomfortable. When Tanner explained the situation, she had a look that obviously showed the fear of having to operate on someone.
Brooke got ready to reject volunteering, but her attitude halted in it's tracks once she saw Katie's scared face. There was no way that a little girl would have to do this. Her eyes then turned to Alan who had already done enough for her. Brooke didn't want to owe him any more than she already did.

"I'll go," she said with a little hesitation in her voice. She stood confidently but shriveled with every glance she took at Logan's head wound.

Before she allowed anyone else to speak, she turned and briskly exited the room.
Tanner watched her exit the room and took a slight smile when he heard the hesitation in her voice.

She's a tough girl, I'll give her that. I don't think anyone here would've volunteered to do this.

He gave a shrug to Alan and Katie before following Brooke outside.
Katie placed a hand on her cousin's shoulder and forced a smile. If she was uncomfortable, chances were that he was too.

"Stubborn, isn't she?" Katie looked up at him with an intent to raise his spirits.
"Very." he said with a small smile. He did look uneasy about Logan's situation, but he was in fact stopped from volunteering by Brooke when she raised her hand just before he planned to. He still felt as though that he should be the one to help out, and planned to tell Tanner that when he returned.

Brooke had been through enough that day, he decided.

Alan suddenly furrowed his brows as he stared into Katie's face. His look was one of confusion, and she could see that he obviously saw something that he found strange.

His confusion quickly gave way to a smile as he suddenly patted her head.

"Stop acting so tough. You don't have to worry so much. I'm fine."

He gestured to the door. "Let's go see where Brooke and the doctor went, okay?"
Katie was wrong. He reminded her of both her parents. Her smile formed into a grin without her consent after he patted her head.

"Okay," she said in a childish voice that she only used when she called her father daddy. Katie was even more surprised at how much she melted when Alan babied her.

So this is what it feels like to have a brother, she thought. Kirsten's so lucky.

She figured that he didn't know where the restroom hid(I know that Alan knows ;)) so she beckoned him towards her after she exited the room.
Alan couldn't help but chuckle at how cute his younger cousin was.

It's like having another sister. I really wish we could have met under different circumstances. he thought to himself as he exited the room.

Speaking of Kirsten, I probably should head back to her soon. I don't want to leave her by herself for to lo-

"Waaaaah....! Alaaaaaaan...!" His eyes shot open as he glanced at Tatum's office, where the sound was coming from.

He didn't waste any time in taking off at full speed towards the office and bursting in.
Katie nearly fell into the wall when Alan sprinted past her.

Speak of the devil, she thought as she watched her cousin hurry to his sister's side.
