Small settlements are natural rumour mills. The constant flow of visitors brings fresh news on a regular basis.

[Feel free to contribute rumours to this thread; if you wish to conceal the source of the rumour, ask one of the staff to post it for you.]

Surreal sights in Lorewood
Some visitors claim to have seen a severed paw rustling through the underbrush of Lorewood, seemingly to move of its own steam. Descriptions vary; some think the paw belongs to some sort of canine, others guess at it belonging to a musteline of some variety.

Robbery
The proprietor, Mama Alliah, seems to be trying to keep it quiet, but a foul-smelling skunk is said to have robbed the tavern Saturday night, armed with an unlawful firearm. He only got away with a day's take, and there were no significant injuries, although reports vary.

A race!?

Rumor has it, Anastacia is Racing Ser Rexington sometime today or tonight. No one knows the details but there seems to be a bet involved.

Rumors of Rexington's win flutter here and there, they say Ana fell off her hawk....other sources believe she was pushed no one knows for sure!
Foreign Confinement

It is rumored that an arrest was made on Alanso Voltierre last night. He is sentenced graciously to only three nights in jail and three silver coins fine for a threat on a certain Ser Rexington's life.

[GO RP WITH HIM! Also, Shall we go to jail?
Harvest Fest

Talk amongst the locals has begun about the Harvest Festival coming up in less than two weeks and although there is obvious talk of food and crops (there aren't many that aren't concerned about their belly) the main chatter seems to be about who is going to be providing the music. There's vague musings that it could be a local or perhaps a performer come all the way from Malgrave.
Trespassers from Hadar a'Vin

A rumor which has been circulating through the sentinel of guards positioned at the Royal Barricade has reached the ears of travelers and peasants, spreading to outlying areas such as Greystone Tavern and small, local villages. The report that surfaced claims that two lions, one male and one female, were spotted escaping through the night from the treasonous Kingdom of Hadar a'Vin and are wanted for questioning under the suspicion of crimes against the crown and conspiring with known enemies of the great and glorious Kingdom of Kasuria and His Royal Majesty King Callistin.

During this time all leonine travelers have been under great scrutiny as they pass through the blockade, and the untimely disappearance of both Alliah Schuylar, proprietor of Greystone Tavern and her kin, Atuanya Ahmose, have lead some to believe they have since been arrested and taken to Malgrave for further questioning, as many other traveling lions have been. The validity of this hearsay is questionable though the fact that both Alliah and Atuanya have not been seen at Greystone Tavern lends credence to the whispered wildfire. The true whereabouts of Alliah and Atuanya is still unknown.
Lovers Quarrel?!

Rumors are springing up all over the town that Lovejoy and the newcomer Avani had a huge fight in the tavern. Avani stormed out of the infirmary and it was overheard Avani saying "You're a monster! I don't know how you could treat those furres yesterday with such heartlessness. I can't forgive you for that!" and then her attempting to slap him.

This resulted in Lovejoy shooting back terrible things about her physical appearance in a composed voice as cold as ice, and somehow stopping her blow from falling on his face without even touching her.

Some say he threw her against a wall, others say that argument stopped right there with Avani leaving the tavern in tears. Either way...

Many speculate that the pair were more than newly formed apprentice and teacher. Could this be a lovers spat? Many think indeed it was!
A loud, obnoxious, feminine voice can be heard when furres pass the gaol this morning. Using very unfeminine swearing, rude descriptions, and mostly revolving around Rexington.

Rumor has it, it's Avani Sands. Some furres say they saw Rexington hauling her off to the gaols a few nights ago.

Some juicy choice phrases include:

"You ugly son of a Raukor"
"Piking no good feline piece of..."
"My teeth? I'll have your teeth for this you ugly cat."
"Rexington! Rexington?! You're a Drakorian piece of .... You hear me?!"

"YOUR FATHER WAS A HAMSTER!!!"
From time to time the mention of underground caverns spreads from one person's lip to another. Though the location's entrance of such tunnels vary, the cave near the waterfall tends to be brought up more often than not. It might be worth exploring!
There is a rumor spreading quietly through concerned locals and patrolling soldiers alike that say the King, quite fed up with Ser Rexington's incompetence to find the traitor-turned-fugitive hiding in the forest, is sending down a troop of men from Malgrave. Their orders are to sweep the Desdemond county from North to South and comb the Lorewood for the "assassin" Shahir.

The soldiers in the area all back up this story, maybe even bit begrudgingly.
It is very apparent that the Priestess found at the temple faithfully every single day and night, since she arrived, has gone missing and has been missing for the past three days. Her staff rests against the tree just outside the temple steps.
Soon after the sun passed from its highpoint in the sky a few extra soldiers showed up at the gaol. Instead of just one standing guard outside the door there are now two patrolling the outside of the building. As for the inside there is now one man upstairs and the other down.

Entry is refused to those who bid it with few exceptions. Anyone found trying to sneak in are promptly apprehended, noted, and sent on their way. What was the cause in this new show of strength? What were they keeping in there?
The Soldiers from the Blockade talk about a new officer arriving from Malgrave, they have nicknamed the young furre "The Librarian".
Ser Leander, and a very large bull named Belorn were seen tromping through town toward the Gaol. They were coming from the woods, and rumour is, the lump of fabric and leaves on Belorn's shoulders was actually Shahir.
Any furre walking by the gaol in the very early mornings would hear a femme's loud laughter. There are whispers that Kali T'Sabine may have been taken prisoner in the night.
The hamlet is a buzz. So much happened last night it seems.

One rumor is that the dead body of a farm girl has washed up on the river side. No one knows who she is. [but if you wanna rp you know her be my guest.]

Another is that the horn sounds last night were because kings men had been attacked. Who was attacked is undetermined but Rexington is nowhere to be seen and there's a bristling Hyena with a bruised up face, at the front of the jail house.
Rumour has it that furres who indulged in Sunday's stone soup have been experiencing misery ranging from unsettled stomachs to severe nausea and vomiting. Some with greater appetites, or a disdain for bread, have been reporting difficulty breathing. Many local townsfurres recognize the mistake of cooking with the wrong mushrooms. Ruthie, the cook, is beside herself with guilt.
On Lorewood's foggy days one can hear certain towns folks singing a little superstitious ditty.

Upon a fogging morning’s thrum, where life is doused in gloom,
be ye brave enough to cross the bridge unto ye doom?
Where gobblins and jabberwock do hunt and rend away,
where roctopus and the dark dreamers dare to go and play?
So I ask of thee, do you feel brave today?

To cross over into the realms where your body dead, may lay?
The source of the rumor is unclear, though Ruthie the tavern cook, known famously for her ruthless gossiping, has no qualms about spreading possibly false information.

Those close enough to the kitchen and the tavern's office can hear a wracking, whooping cough both day and night as it seems the proprietor, Alliah, has fallen ill with an unknown ailment and is confined to her personal quarters.

At first the whispers were far and few in between, but as the days stretch on and the coughing fits seem to increase, skittish furres are prone to jumping to conclusions. Some say Alliah has caught a consumption, others warn there is a plague descending upon Greystone.

Such hear-say has furres scrambling to buy herbs and amulets to ward off any pending sickness, though as to date, no one else has fallen ill with the mysterious disease.

(OOC Note to players: This is my excuse for the lack of Alliah's presence in Greystone while I am traveling for the following month. Feel free to run with it!)
Around 2am near the jail house, shouting could be heard. Talk is that a furre was lashed by soldiers. Who was involved is a mystery.
[Rumor duuuuuuuuuuump! I keep putting this off and I'm so sorry!]

The fugitive bull was caught! He entered the tavern not too long ago for those that were there to witness it and he was quickly chased out by Ser Rexington and out into a trap waiting for him! The bull was knocked out and has since been rotting in the gaol.

The manx-Knight could have been seen the other night rampaging around the settlement with a scowl. He confronted the cat-Knight at the river and it is said it had something to do with the female soldier in the camp, once covered in bruises! It ended as they all cleared out and did not come to blows as it looked.

A scarhawk was seen poking its head into a window in the gaol the best it could. Those that knew the golden-harpied hawk could easily have assumed its owner was within. It has since been seen recovering from what looks like frostbite within the stables!

Just last night another scarhawk, this one more falcon-like, was seen trying to scratch its way into the gaol with its talons! Another rider, also on the back of a hawk, may have been spotted landing to calm the bird and leaving straight after. Shouting and screaming could be heard if someone dared get close enough to the jail house to listen, but over the sounds of the festivities it might be hard!
