Yesterday, Nikrusis was shaken by the assassination of a beloved public figure: Cassandra Sintaire, an advocate for species equality on her home planet and beyond. The former model-turned-lawyer was to give an important speech regarding her run for presidency on the crowded planet when she was taken down by the notorious outlaw known as Taniks. The assassin's attempts to escape were thwarted by Peacekeeper Amberline Bequine who sustained injuries in the process but has been confirmed living and could not be reached for comment! Look at that handsome face, BPG! She's a lady after my own heart!

A loving mother and wife, and strongly supported candidate for her beliefs, Sintaire still was not without her enemies. Speculations abound in the 'Sphere and Layers as to reasons behind Taniks' actions and whether or not he was working alone. While many people this to be an act of the notorious organization The Eye for her advocacy of cross-species welfare and equality on Nikrusis, some believe there may be other and previously unmentioned parties - whispers of a bad relation with one Dr. Weiss among them. Authorities have released no details, however, on this tragedy.
A funeral will be held after which Sintaire's children have sworn to continue their mother's work in spite of the danger their own mother faced.
