The Rules

  • CONDUCT

    • Be excellent to each other. Not everyone will get along perfectly, but disruption, harassment, mud-slinging and otherwise malicious actions will not be tolerated, and large or repeat offenses may be cause for disqualification and expulsion. Conduct disagreements civilly when able, contact a judge account (with screen-captured logs if necessary) and they will act as moderator for the situation, and please follow the RPR Site Use Policy.

      Be nice.
You may not harass other players, sexually or otherwise. Disagreements must be conducted in a civil fashion.

Harassment is not just about sending nasty messages directly to other users. For example, it can include using character or group profiles in order to publish defaming information, accusations or personal information you do not have permission to share, or encouraging other users to contact someone on your behalf after they have blocked you.

If someone is giving you trouble, please don't shout back, however tempting. Instead, contact a moderator. We're here to help!
    • 18+ both IC and OOC. Characters and auditions must adhere to this rule; this rule includes characters who look or act in childlike ways (no 'looks 14, is actually 200' types of characters, etc).

While children are a vital part to any believable city setting, they must not be the main characters of your submission.

This group is age-restricted and any players found to be younger than this age requirement will be removed.
    • Keep IC and OOC separated. We ask for no harassment of players for in-character actions, or OOC jabs, dialogue or opinions within posts or entries.
    • ICA = ICC. In-character actions should lead to in-character consequences. In a roleplaying setting, this explains itself. For the duration of the competition, this also means do not plan ahead or prewrite in between rounds. You will miss vital information from each winning, canon entry if you do.

  • ON JUDGING

For every round, judges will be looking for and judging entries based on these factors:

    • STORY AND CREATIVITY - How well did each entry move the story along? Does it utilize available setting elements and NPCs fairly? Is your character moving in the established world, or are you bending the world to fit the character? Are you overusing certain story beats, or are you doing your best to make it feel fresh and true to your characters and writing style?
    • CHARACTERS - A tournament is not a traditional RP; think of it more as an ART TRADE. You will be expected to treat your opponent's character fairly and 'play' them to the best of your ability in your entry, rather than exclusively showing off your own character.
    • OVERALL ENTRY QUALITY - You are not expected to create a masterpiece, but we will expect quality over quantity and for each entry to be your best try at your chosen format. Does it make sense, or flow or read well? Did you pace it well, or rush to meet the deadline?

If you have any questions, never hesitate to send any of the judge accounts a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we are able.
  • ON JUDGES

'Judge' characters are anonymous characters that are also designed for you to use as NPCs in your entries. They will remain ANONYMOUS for the duration of the game to avoid any bias or favoritism on the parts of the players.

HARMING OR KILLING JUDGE CHARACTERS in your entries will not remove them from their OOC duty. But we will be a little sad.
