Of noble birth, known as lord Calico Jacksworth Pont-de-Ter, the notorious Calico Jack, has taken a life of piracy and raids, becoming one of the most feared pirates to sail the seas.
Contrast to other captains, he refers a more toned down and discreet outfit, resembling more a wealthy merchant than a brigand. Calico Jack is curious, adventurous if at times daring and reckless
After his mother was taken captive during a raid at their estate during which his father met a tragic end, Calico was born on a pirate's den as a slave, brought up according to their thieving and murderous ways, though his mother taught him all about his nobility, his duties, etiquete and protocol in case he ever found freedom.
Raiding and piracy was seen as the only viable income and he doesn't lack the experience in the area. Though, encounters and chances with the right powerful men allowed him to recover his noble titles and lands.
He knows he needs to be ruthless just to survive and has earned a reputation he is keen to keep intact.
However, deep inside he continues to dream of joining the royal army, protecting the kingdom and seeks redemption and ways to make things right. Many a times sparing the passing merchants or navy ships.
He is not cruel for the sake of evilness thus mercy towards his slaves and prisoners is not uncommon which has earned him the loyalty and devotion of crew and slaves alike. Better this one, than another ruffian. for this one has a code of conduct and certain morals at times.
His mentor is Sir Henry Morgan taught him the ropes of piracy earlier and made him his right hand man and his heir and for this they remained the closest allies and friends
After Calico's mother died, he returned to his estate to reclaim his noble lavish lifestyle. Sharing wealth and a good social position at the king's service as much as the love and skill of piracy like Morgan. The only difference being that Morgan preferred the comforts and glory of the royal entourage where Calico sought the thrill of the sea.
