  • BACKGROUND

    00 - 18 Jack Hatchett was born into the Blackwell crime family, alchemists notorious for supplying illicit arcane substances. Widely despised, they drew the ire of the local populace, and one day, a violent encounter with an angry mob rendered him mute. Feeling isolated, he turned to his studies as an escape and spent most his childhood alone.

    18 - 32 Jack left his home once he was old enough for the small town of Rowanwick, where he met his best friend, Samantha Locke, and became the apprentice of an elderly apothecary whose shop he eventually inherited. With access to resources, he focused on understanding the bloodlust that afflicted creatures like him and sought to find a remedy.

    32 - 44 Jack formed an alliance with like-minded scientists in the neighboring city of Los Lunares. Together, they created a bloodlust suppressant through trial and error with human blood and other niche ingredients, and it actually worked. Not everyone wanted a cure, however, and one coworker was coerced into committing arson and destroyed the research.

    44 - 52 Jack resorted to extreme measures to offer monsters an alternative and minimize the death ratio. Underhive emerged under his leadership, a syndicate which specialized in the trade of blood and flesh. While managing the operation and pursuing a permanent solution, he found that Samantha, now an investigator, intended to bring him to lawful justice.
