RP between Rook and Yam

Neeva had been carrying the ruby for long enough, and at this point, it was either do something with it or just find a little place it could rest on one of her dressers. She'd heard about the jeweler from others and assuming he was a more trustworthy sort than those on Guildereim may be, she sought him out whether at his home or perhaps a new shop he had set up.

If the latter, she would slink inside said shop and immediately glance over everything in her immediate view. She'd put her gremlin fingers on some, figure out how to remove others from display and eventually made her way to the jeweler.

If it was at his house, however, Neeva would knock gently at his door and stared up at him whenever he opened up to talk to her.

"Hello, I am here for jewelry."

yam — 01/24/2021
It was at his home, unfortunately. Fortunately? For him. Uhm.

"...hello."

Niveus wire a dark navy v-neck tunic, brown trousers and... no shoes. Hey, he was at home. He could do that.

"Oh. Uhm... okay. Are... are you wanting to buy something, or have something made, or...?" He didn't seem keen on budging just yet.

Truth be told, anthropomorphic people were a little off putting to him. Sure, his two 'parents' were, but that was different! Right?

She also was just... not someone he knew, and unexpected. Cut him some slack.

Neeva stared up at Niv for a moment, focusing on his horns and despite the difference in height, the Chupakri reached up with the intentions of trying to grab one. Until he asked that question, and her hand hovered there.

"I have a ruby, I would like to have made it into jewelry." She pulled back, only to hold out the palm sized gem. "I am very rich, I can pay for many things and I would like many things. Rings, bracelets, necklaces. Maybe even earrings."

That sounded nice. At the thought, the Chupakri wagged her tail behind herself.

yam — 01/24/2021
Niveus' own tail hung off of his backside like it was dead weight. Normally it was a bit more animated and held in a semi-stiff posture for balance, but for whatever reason, right at this very second, it was utterly flaccid and lacking life. Perhaps it was part of his reaction to the Chupakri.

"Okay... e-er... come in...?" he had watched Neeva's hand very closely and was grateful when she did not quite grab his horn. He would have moved out of her way if she hadn't stopped, of course, but this saved him some effort.

Assuming she followed, Niveus lead her into his home. It would seem he had tidied up significantly since last anyone visited: it looked like a home rather than a trainwreck of interesting goodies. He gestured her to his loveseat and as if on repeat from another visit he had had not so long ago with another individual, he pulled up a stool and sat on it with a sketchpad and a pen.

"What kind of metals are you wanting used? I can work in gold, silver, platinum, copper, iron... I can mix metals too in certain instances." he had begun writing and sketching out a little table with labels and columns for writing details. "What is your name?"

Rook — 01/24/2021
Neeva dusted off her tail before she did so, since the length of it tended to be an issue when one didn't actively keep it from dragging as she wandered about. She wandered inside upon the offer and looked around the room, her usually drooped ears standing straight up on the top of her head.

Onto the loveseat she went and she set the gem on her lap, tucking her legs together after she was settled. Her long tail rested against the floor, easily taking up a lot of room. "Just gold, yes, gold would look the best on me." Platinum did sound nice, but she hadn't ever seen it made as jewelry.

"It is Neeva, just Neeva."

yam — 01/24/2021
"I am Niveus. Hello, Neeva."

Crossing one leg over the other to form a 'table' for the sketchpad to rest on, he wrote down her name and her metal of choice. "That is a large stone. Where did you find it? Did you steal it?" yet the way he asked it sounded so utterly unconcerned you'd wonder if he even cared if it was stolen or not. In truth? Probably not. That wasn't his problem.

"Do you have any design ideas, or would you like me to sketch some things up? I can do simple, with chains and settings, or I can do something more ornate and complicated. Whatever you prefer."

Rook — 01/24/2021
"Yes, hello."

Neeva would commit the name to memory, even with the possibility she might forget half of it. Niv was easy to remember. When he asked about the ruby, she didn't seem insulted. "Someone gave it to me to make them clothes. I have never stolen in my life, everything I had I found or someone did not want it anymore."

She relaxed afterwards, setting her hands onto her lap and she shifted her wings behind her for some attempt at comfort. "I do not. I have not seen a lot of jewelry that is not very plain or for wives or husbands." And she didn't want those. "I would like ornate, yes please."

yam — 01/24/2021
"I see. You make clothing, then? What kinds? I make clothing too. Not... as a job, but... I know how." he continued to write little notes to himself. He did a sketch of the gemstone as it was in her lap, then did a few very rough sketches of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings.

"Can you draw? You could try to show me what you'd like, unless you want me to come up with it myself. I do not mind, either way."

Rook — 01/24/2021
"I can make many things. Robes, dresses, corsets, vests, dress shirts, slacks, cravats and gloves. I am considering doing other things, but only when they become popular." She figured she could just learn then, and it wouldn't exactly be that hard.

"No, I have never really tried drawing. I have painted a little, but I found it very boring and I stopped." Neeva explained, but she leaned over to look at his sketches. "It is probably better you do it, you look like you are very better than me at that."

yam — 01/24/2021
"Oh? Do you have a shop in town? I would like to see some of your garments." he liked tailoring and fine clothes crafting himself. It wasn't his primary focus but he did enjoy making beautiful things. "I have made armour and dressclothes for special occasions... I make all of the clasps and fittings, too..."

"How is this then, to start with?" he had been doodling. "This would all be in gold, but it would resemble beadwork or pearls, sort of. The band would be made to look either tangled or plaited and there would be six reinforcing setting prongs that are small so that they don't take away from the piece, rather than less but larger."

Rook — 01/24/2021
"No. I did not have enough money to buy a shop yet. I do my work on the dead man's ship or at Aldo's house. I will be buying myself a house soon, so I can have my own workshop there." Having both a home and a store in one building seemed to make the most sense to her, so she wouldn't have to worry about anyone getting into her place. "I mostly use buttons, I like them more."

When he showed her the first doodle, Neeva looked it over. "Oh! Yes! I like it." She said excitedly, holding a clawed hand out to imagine what she'd look like with rings. "How much do you want me to pay for each jewelry?"

yam — 01/25/2021
"I see. I should do that... I could build onto this one, make the ground level the shop." Sounded like a plan... and like the setup he had back on Etla. He sort of missed the upstairs home, ground level shop, and underground smithy and bath...

He'd make a mental note to start digging a hole soon. Perhaps in the hallway.

"Well, accounting for materials and service rendered, I think one banded gold shard?" He was still learning the currency of this world, but thought this was fair. It covered the ring and the other jewelry.

Rook — 01/25/2021
"That is a good idea." Neeva would just go for a two-story herself, maybe, if she ever got enough money. Just enough room for everything. She thought it over, as she pulled her coin purse from underneath her dress where it was usually tucked away.

"I can do that, yes!" She dug through the shards and once she found one that fit what he suggested, it'd be set on the table between them. "How long does this usually take? I will wait for it all to be finished before I come get them."

yam — 01/25/2021
"Well, how about a week from now? It will give me time to rotate each project and work on other things, as well. I have the tools and materials, I'll simply need the ruby. I'll return whatever isn't used of it too, of course." Niveus accepted the shard, looking it over. He chuckled a little.

"Everywhere until now has used coin. It is taking me awhile to get used to these."

Rook — 01/25/2021
"That is good for me." Neeva agreed and she pushed the ruby towards him, assuming she could trust him with it. "If I ever get more gems. I will bring them to you for more." It was unlikely, but if so, she had some ideas for future. "Everything is new to me. I have not used coins much growing up, everyone bought everything I would need."

Neeva moved her legs so she could stand and she looked down at Niv, resisting the urge to go for his horns again now that he was sitting. "I am going to tell Aldo and the Vaidya. They will be very eager to hear about my future jewelry."

yam — 01/25/2021
Niveus unfortunately did not know either of these people. The name Aldo SOUNDED vaguely familiar, but the Vaidya? Not so.

"Where I am from, we do not use money. We have an allowance of issued papers given to use that we must make last for a certain amount of time, and we can earn more." Vouchers. Coupons. That sort of thing. "Coin is confusing but... I got the hang of it." Now it was pebbles and shards, though.

"Right. I'll see you in a week. Should something be unfinished, I'll send you home with what is completed and give you another time estimate for which to return." Rising to a stand, Niveus bowed awkwardly after accepting the ruby offered and wandered toward his home's front entrance, holding the door open for her.

"Thank you for your business. Until then, Neeva?"

Rook — 01/25/2021
"That is very interesting. Why did you not stay? It seems better than being confused about coin." Atleast that aspect, but she hadn't outright asked about anything else. "I would like that, I will be here in a week. Is this time of day okay?"

Neeva found everyone's sleeping schedules a bit strange, and wondered if it'd be the same with this horned fellow. When he bowed, she would curtsy like a proper lady. "It was very nice to be in your home and meet you, I will show you my trade sometime." When the door was opened, she slipped outside and stretched out her long tail.

"Yes. Goodbye." And with that, the Chupakri slipped away.
