This mechanic was introduced in 2016. Some monsters can inflict the blight status effect on you when they hit you. This status effect typically lasts 4-6 hours, or until cured using an item. If a monster inflicts blight on you but you are already blighted, the countdown on your blight resolving naturally will be restarted.
While blighted, you will not recover HP each round. The only way to gain back HP while blighted is to use a healing item like a party hat.
If a walrus defended you during the round that the blight would have been inflicted, the walrus will prevent you from taking blight.
While most sources of blight are magical in nature, like curses, monsters have a number of ways of afflicting adventurers with the condition. For example, in 2021, zombies could transmit infections which would occupy the body's natural healing ability, preventing recovery from injury, while in 2025, some machines could inflict blight by infusing their targets with weaponized nanites which actively prevented recovery. No matter the source, though, a boost to the body's natural defenses from the items below is enough to remove the effect.
Medicinal Plant- Recovery from blight and poison. Has been available many different years.
Stimspray - Recovery from blight and poison. A 2017, 2020 & 2025 item.
Blight Be-Gone - Recovery from blight. Available in 2022 and 2023.
Hot Cuppa- Recovery from blight and poison. This item was only available during the Operation Audacious Phoenix Bake Sale Fundraiser, and therefore is an extremely rare collectors item. Most would not consider using it to clear their status effects because of this, but it is included here for completeness.
