I'm an aspiring author hoping to gain experience. Roleplaying is also very fun for me :D I'm pretty laid back and... Yup.
I've made my own race known as the Treesin. They are a peaceful race that is half plant and half animal. They are unable to feel anger, and are herbivorous creatures. Treesin believe in free sharing instead of using trade or currencies. As a result, in exchange for the many fruits, plants, and nature made goods the Treesin provide, their people have been granted special cards which allow them to purchase many goods from any friendly empire. They have their own language, known as Treesong, which is impossible to speak unless one is also a Treesin. This is due to their unique style of voice, which is made using a special mixture of tiny leaf-shaped obstructions found in the trachea. They have a number of unique features, including their 'rain vision', which is an ability that lets them find objects by listening to the rain and knowing the sounds of each drop hitting something. This effect stretches for one mile. They also heal faster if they get sunlight that day, and without any light, will fall asleep. Their bodies are covered in cactus spikes, which, similar to a porcupine, can be smoothed, but raise up when threat looms. They are experts with Botany.
History: The Treesin origins involve evolution, from a simple weed whose offspring rolled on retractable spines, searching for fertile soil, to a giant flower-like being which walked using adapted roots and ate meat, to then a more-adapted creature that was again rooted in soil, but could lean its stalk and ate anything nearby, plant or animal, and finally to the Treesin. During their 'cave stage' they were usually ignored by predators, given their extreme closeness to plants. Natural selection therefore favored the peaceful and furless Treesin, who were less likely to be eaten. During colder winters, a grass like evolution of hair was also favored. Finally, as language developed, the Treesin discovered planting, and began the construction of huts. 'Tribal Stage', this stage was quite a trial. Constant thunderstorms burned and flooded many Treesin villages, and the darkness kept most in a constant hibernative state. The Treesin dutifully built high stone walls and deep moats for protection, and with the discovery of fire, were able to stay awake during these storms. It was also here that the Treesin evolved their spines, which were a necessary defense against the herbivores who had lost food from forest fires, and predators desperate enough to eat anything. 'Medieval Stage', this was the stage where Anger was founded in a few Treesin, who plotted to destroy all other species. Their violence led to the widespread extinction of hundreds of species, about fourteen of which were sentient, and eighty were threats to the Treesin people. These 'flawed' Treesin were called Warrin, and were unable to mate with anyone but their own kind (and themselves, of course). They eventually died off. During this stage, it is also notable that the Treesin discovered artificial selection with their plants, and successfully bred over 500 new species, most of which were fruits, cloth, or grain. 'Colonial Stage', the beginning of which was marked by the discovery of gunpowder, and fireworks. The Treesin have still yet to develop their own weapons, but over time their discovery of Warrin remains and their weapons will spark wars as the entire world is explored. Despite there being only one 'super' continent, there are many small nations, and with weapons Treesin will learn war, attacking each other for territory. These wars do not unite the world, but do wipe out the remaining violent Treesin, and make the world leaders realize the importance of militaric defense. 'Modern Age', with the discovery of electricity, the Treesin population grows considerably happier, and this newfound discovery leads to many new inventions as the Treesin eagerly build for the betterment of their people. Only 100 years after its discovery, the Treesin governments come to an agreement, and World Peace is achieved. Treesin rid themselves of currency, and instead do everything for the betterment of each other. 'Galactic Stage' The Treesin, soon realizing that they need more land for their people, invent their first terraformers, and send ships onto their two moons, colonizing them in a matter of a century. They move on to colonize the entire solar system, but even today most is unpopulated, terraformed for future use.
