Hello! I’m Samantha, but you can call me Sam, Empath, Somnium, or whatever other nickname. I identify as a cis-female and use she / her pronouns, though I’m okay with neutral ones as well. As of 9/27/2024, I will be 34! So yes, I am most definitely old enough to engage in mature topics. I adhere to US law, so I’d prefer my partners to be at least 18 before talking about such things with me.
I operate in eastern standard time and keep a strange, inconsistent schedule. I have schizoaffective disorder (bipolar type), insomnia, c-ptsd, and am on the autism spectrum. If I vanish without warning, it’s likely because I’m withdrawing to care for my mental health. As much as I wish role play fixed everything, sometimes my mind hates even that. lmao I am medicated as well, so that helps me a lot.
I struggle with communication (thanks to being wary of new people and somewhat socially awkward), but I really do try my best. It takes a bit for me to work up the courage to make the first move or to reconnect after long periods of silence.

Squicks&Triggers
infidelity. I will not write it, and I will not read the act of it. I’m okay with it being a part of a character’s backstory and if a character is recounting a past event.
excessive Satanic themes. This mostly pertains to the feeling of total helplessness associated with being assaulted by evil beings. I’m okay with reading these themes as long as they don’t directly involve my character being on the receiving end of them.
yaoi. I have nothing against homosexual relationships between men, but I can’t even quantify the amount of times yaoi has been used to taunt and torment me as something “superior” to hetero ships, or that “I” (my character) would never have the love of the one they sought because “I” (they) wasn’t a gay man. I don’t want to read it, see NSFW depictions of it, or write it.
pedophilia. This ties into the above point in a few ways, in that this was used multiple times to taunt and torment me during my time in a specific fandom. I AM:
01. A casual, flexible writer. I write what I think is needed, and my length will change. I prefer character banter and short threads these days, as a matter of fact. I get burned out easily. Part of my flexibility also means I'm open to crossovers and AUs.
02. A world-builder. If I'm invested enough in a role play, I adore the immersion and expansion.
03. Open to plotted platonic ships. I love figuring out how our characters could know one another and then throwing them together in the middle of said relationship. It bypasses the awkward first meeting.
04. Open to having more than one thread. This one is pretty self-explanatory. I'm open to more than one thread so long as it's all manageable for me and my partner.
05. I am neurodivergent and mentally ill, so I need time and patience. Also, I'm prone to disappearing for long periods of time without warning to care for my mental health. I'll usually come back and offer apologies and explanations as they're due.
YOU MAY:
01. Ask for accommodations. If something of mine is difficult to read / see / navigate, let me know, and I'll do what I can for you. In addition, you are safe to tell me your triggers and squicks. They will be respected here.
02. Do whatever you need to for your health. That includes taking longer to reply, taking breaks, deleting me without warning, privately confronting me, dropping the thread, etc. I will never pester you.
03. Message me things. Ideas, things that remind you of our thread or our characters, whatever! I want to see your inspiration so I can add it to my own.
04. Send me character banter or a short starter. I prefer it these days over full-blown stories.

01. Outright steal from me. Seriously, I'm very generous with my resources. Just please don't take anything I've made or written. My verse, The Dreamscape Saga, is my own creation. If you want to create a character in it, I would be flattered but please give me credit.
02. Treat role play like it's real life. I am not my characters. If they behave maliciously towards your character, it has nothing to do with the way I personally feel about you. Likewise, if our characters are shipped, it stays in the role play. I am happily taken in real life.
03. Force romantic chemistry. Look, I love a good romantic ship, but if the chemistry isn't there, then it's not there. Forcing it will only result in me getting uncomfortable and dropping the thread.
04. Contribute nothing to the thread or discussions. I cannot carry everything, and I refuse to. I will get burned out and stop replying.
05. Disrespect my boundaries. This is self-explanatory.
BOUNDARIES INCLUDE:
01. I simply do not have the time or the energy to role play with every single person who asks, nor do I have it in me to respond as quickly as some might be accustomed to. Please be patient with me and know that if I deny your request to role play, it’s not personal and I will still be happy to support you as a writer.
02. No grimdark. I despise it. I struggle with enough doom-and-gloom mentality without having it all in my writing. I'm not opposed to darker themes, but if that's all we're doing, then I'm bowing out.
03. No graphic pedophilic descriptions. I really don't need to know the ins and outs of how that child was abused.
04. No unsolicited violence. I will not spar with you outside of a thread, and even then, we have to discuss the outcome. Do not attack my character without talking to me about it first.
05. I will not hand out my Discord if we're not friends. I might make exceptions, but it is highly unlikely.
06. No graphic smut if we're not in a romantic ship. It's awkward and most smut is badly written anyway. Just... no thank you.
07. I will not pick up other characters or make accounts for anyone. I've tried to do this in the past, and it just never worked out.
08. Rushing me, spam invites, OOC drama, telling me what to do with my time, and telling me how to write my replies will either get you deleted or blocked, depending on how bad the infraction is.
09. Anyone who ships "sebaciel", "clalois", or "clauciel" will be promptly removed or blocked as soon as I find out. I want nothing to do with any of these ships or the feral people that enjoy them. Hard pass, not sorry.
