I opted for the username TheGreatMouse because of a silly thing I started doing to a friend of mine when I met her on IMVU. I supposedly steal only her left shoes and keep them in my imaginary stash. She started calling me 'Mouse' then and the rest was history. But, since you took the time to come here and obviously stalk me, you may call me Mouse, Yanyan or Jo.
Personally, I think I suck at telling people about myself, but it's not for the lack of trying... so, where do I start?
I was born and raised in an Asian country and I have been into reading and writing ever since I fell in love with the English language. That started pretty early for me because it was my first medium of instruction, even though it wasn't my first language. At that time, my siblings weren't born yet so as the only spawn of a family that lived with a few old and unmarried female relatives, I was pretty much the only child who only had books to turn to. To be fair, I remember turning to reading to fight boredom and at times... well, let's just say it came to the point where even encyclopedias were part of the volumes I've read. From there, my love for reading eventually led to an interest in writing which, in turn, manifested into role-playing being a significant part of my life.
A friend of mine would argue that I'm not old but I feel ancient and in that regard, I finally found the courage to actually try my hand at officially starting a group. RP Repository seemed like a good manner in which to start such an endeavor, so I am quite thankful to a cousin of mine who invited me on here. To be fair, it started with that and eventually my friends and I are on here to try and advertise for our group.
Speaking of groups, I am one of the Creators of The Feudal Realms of Sgili and it would be a pleasure for anyone to check it out after you've read my profile. I know I kind of ranted for a bit so I'm going to resist the urge to type some more and simply bid everyone a good morning/afternoon/evening.
