If you would like to join a role-play playing as orphans trying to make it through the awful orphanage you have been put in go ahead join. If you use magic try not use it excessively and stay in character as much as you can.
Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.

Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
