Forums » Applications » Academy Class Submissions

We keep these applications separate from the public figures thread as they will double as both teacher applications and the proposal of course types - when it comes to teaching at Steeplestone, the institution looks for core instructors as well as allowing those of particular expertise to design their own courses! While Thornmouth Academy looks for more mundane instructors to teach the basics of reading, writing, mathematics, etc. there is still plenty of room for growth.

A list of current Steeplestone instructors and existing courses can be found here. A list of those teaching at Thornmouth Academy is likewise located here. Please check for what might already exist before you post!

In order to submit your proposal, please post the following in this thread (as player or character is fine):

Instructor:
Andreiius Ansul
Academy:
Steeplestone
Class Type:
Alchemy and transmutation
IC Availability:
Evenings and weekends, or via private session.
Course Description:
One of the great minds of his time and land (formerly, anyway) Andreiius Ansul has decided to offer to share the secrets of his homeland's brand of alchemy with the serious student. Students will learn how to extract pure energy from a living subject, and use that energy to transmute items, including the coveted act of transmuting base metals into gold. This class is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, advanced transmutation techniques will require additional classes in anatomy and physiology.
OOC INFO:
A very serious student that gets along with Ansul very well may learn such advanced techniques as medicinal transmutation, the creation of chimeral creatures, or even the act of self-metamorphosis into a new form. These advanced levels of alchemy are very dangerous and painful and have the potential to drastically change IC character outcomes. For better or worse.

Instructor: Vethos Valestia.

Academy: Steeplestone.

Class Type:
Battle Magic.
Curse-Breaking.

IC Availability: Weekdays.
- Evenings and nights can be arranged for students who are adverse to the sun.

Course Description:
Brutal on the battlefield, the warcaster is ruthless and formidable, able to withstand and deflect physical and magical spells, as much as he is able to return them. He demonstrates a decent skill with a weapon and arcane focus both. His lessons focus on reactivity, putting up a defence, hand-to-hand combat augmented with magic, magical duelling, and magical casting 'agility'.

For his curse-breaking lesson, his lessons include disenchanting first as the foundation, before including how to safely examine magical artefacts, and extending into countermeasures. For advanced students, he is able to demonstrate how to begin to 'unthread' another's spellforms.

OOC INFO:
- Best way to grab me is to drop me a PM, I'm online often and responsive.
- Threads via Discord in the Thornmouth server work best due to time zones.

Instructor: Laerdya Liahice-Moreno
Academy: Steeplestone Academy
Class Type: Ice Magic
IC Availability: Weekdays; Evening Classes - Private Tutoring available
Course Description:
How to manifest Ice Magic through the moisture in the air or other sources; nearby water for example, intended to be used for offensive purposes. Each student will be taught how to manipulate ice into various shapes, resembling weapons, shields or anything else they may be able to think up. She's quite open to just teaching people for practical purposes like supplying certain businesses with ice to cool drinks or food.
OOC INFO: For RPs that involve private tutoring, just DM me! Otherwise, I'm open to anyone saying their character is in her class, I don't mind let's saying what they've learned.
Approved!

Instructor: Rowina
Academy: Steeplestone Academy
Class Type: Foundations of Mind-Magic
IC Availability: Weekdays, just after sunrise. Wink nights.
Course Description: In this introductory course, students gifted with heightened empathy or psionic inclinations will learn to channel this emotional resonance into controlled psychokinetic spellwork. Under the supervision of the esteemed Arkaine Soulshaper, Rowina, apprentices will practice the creation and lifting of small objects with an emphasis on safety and persistent mental health, as well as learn how to stabilize volatile emotional auras, recognize attunement to the feelings of others around them, and how these acts enhance precision in mind-driven magics.

Expect a blend of theoretical lore and hands-on practice, with an emphasis on ethical and responsible use of mind magics, and by this course's end, students will be able to harness their emotional attunement as a reliable conduit for small-to-moderate telekinetic and group spellcasting effects.

OOC INFO: Discord only, for now, as I can't guarantee a consistent Furcadia experience these days! Expect a forum-styled pace. I am also open to let's-says within reason!
Approved!

Instructor: Evren
Academy: Steeplestone Academy
Class Type: Introduction to Magitech
IC Availability: Weekdays before sunset
Course Description: Greetings and hello, prospective tinkerers! This is a twelve-week course in which I will guide you through the delicate and explosive art of combining the beautiful flow of magical mana with good, old-fashioned nuts-and-bolts engineering!

By the end of this course, you would be expected to have created at least one functioning magitech widget, and your final project consists of the creation of a small magical arcano-dynamic familiar (that won't brood about it. Happy thoughts!)

I am also legally supposed to present this waiver.

OOC INFO: Discord only, for now, as I can't guarantee a consistent Furcadia experience these days! Expect a forum-styled pace. I am also open to let's-says within reason! Evren is also a friendly - if scatterbrained - face for any introductory scene at the academy.
