I see. I misunderstood the topic in which you were referring. I assumed you were speaking to my closing of the original topic I was going to display - something I doubt anyone would care to steal.

You were referring to the book that is currently being written. Correction, three books have been written, they are in the process of being re-written with more detail and dialog before we go to the publishers with our finished product of the first book.

And yes, of theft I am greatly paranoid. With as much research, deep dives into articles, documentaries watched and years of talking and planning, if we were to start our story from the beginning, it would be all too easy for someone to copy and paste and edit for themselves.

Because the book is not complete and we plan on taking it to an international publishing company, we cannot copyright it. As much time as we have spent editing and re-editing the book, errors still escape us, and we want to benefit from professional editors if we get picked up by a publishing company.

Currently, the book is at 350 pages on Word document, and it is only half done. That is more work that I feel comfortable putting out there for just anyone to read and potentially decide to they like it so much or it inspired them so much, they make it their own. The world can read the story in its entirety when/if we get the story published.

If that’s not impressive!!
Thanks for that, I think everyone here might be interested to buy the result.

Who am I to fear about anyone stealing my doe…

Hey Eros? May I say ‘Great Work’ ?

It’s amazing how many great writers are in this group, it has become a superb learning platform for people like me, that are learning to write.
Thanks to all.

But I’m still indecisive on how to get my writing public 😁
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about someone "borrowing" from your character profiles.

When I discovered that the concept for my character and descriptions used in the profile were copied word for word, I confronted them and when they insisted I was wrong about them copying directly off my page, I blocked them. The blocking offended them and when they asked what they could do to be unblocked by me, I informed them they could remove all the information they took off my profiles. They are no longer active on this site from what I can tell. Or, if they are, they are writing in private groups/DMs.

If only we lived in a utopian world where people were above stealing character concepts, story concepts, and information directly off of another person's profiles. But we live in a dog eat dog world. All you can do is look out for yourself.

As for getting your writing out publicly - my partner, TheCaffeineQueen and I created a group which used to be public for any and all to read that wished to. We were the only two writing and there were several ongoing stories being written. Recently, we had to make the group private as someone was becoming too obsessive with a few of the characters and reaching out to us via DMs and harassing us.

But a public group with your story available for interested parties to go and read is a way to get it out there. You can also put a link to the group on your character's page and on your writer's profile page, giving multiple opportunities for people to discover the story.
The group is maybe a good idea, I thought of that too. But unfortunately it didn’t go further than creating a group with a name. I do have an ongoing RP, writing my doe’s story, how she became like she is. It is not such a big, far going story like yours, it’s just a little doe I am proud off, maybe not worth a group.

I do hope you find your peace with TheCaffeineQueen, it seems to be a beautiful cooperation, and let the Write-a-Thon be inspiring for you.

It’s weird that it needs a writing challenge like this one to get to know other people and to see such, I allow myself to say that, revelations.

@Claine, do you think to keep this group open after the challenge, a melting pot of those who want to go further in writing?

With melting pot I mean a place where different people find together with a same idea, like around here melting pot is often used as a name for a restaurant where people of all horizons find together (for example youth hostels)
I imagine the group will go quiet without the pressure of a deadline, but I'll need happy to leave it open, and if people want I can run the event again next year.

I've been diagnosed with typhus as I went total blackout since Thursday. Had lost several days on writing but I've decided to focus on my recovery first. Sad that I can't think much to write since I'm not able to bring out pc/laptop on my bed rest. :( hopefully I can catch up next week.

I'm here with you, I am delayed cause of Illness. We can do it though.
I'll pray for you if thats alright?
How is everyone doing? I'm gonna update my word count today and then update everything for 25k words. I was really motivated at the beginning, but it all just kinda faded. Some months be like that!

Welcome to the club... I am even far from half the way down, but we're facing end of the month.
Anyway, even if only half of the expected word count might be reached, I'm having fun writing.

Else I'm doing fine, minor health issues are gone, but work isn't going to be less next weeks.

That's life ;)
Yea part of it is work too! I'm just so tired when I get hom that I really only want to write, or really do anything on my days off lol. I'm cringing at the 0s I'll have to put in for some of those days but. Ya, I do enjoy writing still, and I'm happy with my progress and I supposed that's all that matters :D

I'm glad your health issues have recovered :)
I have been suffering from sleepy girl syndrome. Writing, drawing, mod stuff, it's all backing up 😭
That’s of no fun😮

Even if, honestly… sleeping once a whole day in a row… *siiigh*

No, sorry, it’s really not easy. But I’m sure, somehow, we will all reach what we wanted to do. No matter the number of words, pages, chapters or drawings.

The only thing that’s different, we somehow did this together, ain’t that the most enjoying of it all? Telling everyone the issues and the successes, sharing some writing. My personal goal is reached since long, everyone can read about my little doe.

So head up, you’re going to make it😊

@Four, thanks 🙂

I get it. I've been working offline on my story and it isn't progressing very much. It didn't help I got a really bad cold this last week which made concentrating rough. I mostly read and made plot notes. No matter how much I get done here this month, it has been a motivational success. My new goal is 10K.
For those interested, chapter two is out, Lizbeth is confronted to wild nature, ambushes and relief await that little doe of mine. 8000 words written down and a big chapter is coming up, escaping civilization or the frightening human world.

Thanks everyone 😊
Hi guys, I finally am fully recovered (it's been 2 weeks earlier but then I got covid and I got another isolation before fully recovered). I hope that I'm still able to continue my story even if the time was over. :(
Oh no that's terrible! I'm glad you're feeling a little better!

And of course, you can continue writing the story whenever you want!
I don't even have any excuse, I just didn't write anything at all...

To be truly honest, I was just so unmotivated from people simply refusing to write a scene I've written a month or so ago that I thought my dumb project wouldn't be read by anyone either, so... I mean, I know the whole point of the challenge is to just write, but go tell that to a depressive maniac fool. :B
Don't worry, I understand that artists want connection through their art, and feeling like nobody cares is tough. It's a legitimate feeling and it can be hard to push through.
It makes me so sad everyone feeling guilty to others about not meeting goals. Look what you did do, and just because November is over doesn't mean you can't do a new goal for December!

Just make sure you keep writing. Even if some days you only get 2 words, or on the good days or the bad days or the days where you have no time!

Don't guilt yourself! It'll make it harder to write 🫂

You all deserve a stress free hobby. (Obviously those of you that write for a living have a bit more stress but you still deserve to be kind to yourself 💜)

Y'all got this.
